Prior to Floyd's fight w/ ODLH fight, his best sell was about 325K buys. Oscar's just over a mill. And yet, somehow, magically, their PPV combined to sell 2.4 mill!!

Floyd got paid approx 26mill in this fight. He made 8 mill versus Baldomir just before.

Now here is where it gets crazy....

How in the world could Floyd get 26 mill when his previous PPV only sold less then half a mill buys? I wonder...could it be the anticipation and expected PPV buys that they went on? Cause that's just WEIRD!! D'oh!!

He should accept the money, be confident in his ability to win, and make more money in the rematch. That is, if Canelo even has any interest rematching him. If Golovkin detsroys Alvarez (which is quite possible,) maybe Canelo will want nothing to do with a potential rematch.

Also, I'm a bit confused as to why Gennady would want to fight this guy. I was under the pretense that all he cares about is unifying the division and Alvarez doesn't hold any belts at 160 lbs.

If it's solely for the money, than more power to him although it contradicts everything he's been saying for the past couple years and a major reason he never wanted to move up to 168 lbs- his incessant passion for wanting to unify the MW division.

Maybe him and his team believe a win over Alvarez will make GGG the defacto PPV superstar. Unfortunately it doesn't work that way at all in the PPV world.

No reliable source has ever been given for the 97k figure despite the posters throwing that number around with reckless abandon being called out on it each time.

It's actually a good way to see if a poster has an agenda when it comes to Golovkin as anyone who spouts that crap obviously has an axe to grind for one reason or another so can be disregarded.

Every place I've looked reported the 150K buys. The funny thing is, these guys want to act like it was a terrible failure, based on PPV sales. Well, the entire event made money for all involved. Compare that to Floyd's last couple PPVs, which sold way more buys, but actually lost money.

Simple minds like to simplify things to their level just so they can understand it.

I don't think 150k is much of an achievement. It was at the lower end of solid at best but to spout off BS numbers from a solitary tweet in the face of far more credible sources pisses me off as it flies in the face of logic.

I can't be the only one wondering how the hell Canelo gets paid $15m a fight let alone Golovkin?
Someone who was got beat in embarrassing fashion against the only ATG he has fought.

Don't get it twisted, I like Canelo, but lets be real.
    • Lost to Mayweather EASILY (admittedly he was very green)
    • Struggled with Trout to a controversial win
    • Struggled with Lara to a controversial win
    • Was losing by quiet a margin against the significantly smaller Khan (until Khan got KTFO - that was beautiful btw).
    • Won the middleweight strap from Cotto, only to avoid any great challenge at that weight class.
    Seriously?

I understand some of the nonsense that gets thrown Golovkins way, but you can't throw stones if you live in a glass house.

Tell you what you imbecile, give me your 97k sources and I'll compile of list of 150k sources and we'll see who looks the fool. This is your last chance to show me that there's something about you worth a response from me.

Engaging on here with me is a privilege not a right. It's time you idiots realised that.

Never seen @drenlou claim 97k myself. I'd be disappointed if he did.
