This is a big win for boxing coupled with the idea Povetkin will banned by the WBC, I'm really glad this cheat with all the big money behind him, keeps taking L's

Well, just as a point of comparison, in the wedding photography industry, when photographers book a date, they usually take a retainer fee (as opposed to a deposit) to reserve the date. People typically book weddings 8 to 18 months out. And the reason they require a retainer (usually around 50%) is because if they book a date with Bob and Jane a year out, and they cancel at the last minute, they didn't totally waste the date because now it's too late to book a new couple.

I'm thinking the situation here works along similar lines.

Yeah I get it, just don't agree with it. Wilder and his team should definitely be compensated in some way(travel, paying sparring partners, etc.), but that 4.3 million was for a fight that never happened. That's what I think of it anyways, but at the end of the day that's not what matters.

I disagree. He lost out on whatever income the fight was due to make cos the other guy took drugs and cheated. He should still get paid. Simples

What was Wilder scheduled to make in the fight? I personally would have thought 50% of his purse would have seemed fair, at least if using the wedding industry as a comparison point. I think he deserves something beyond the travel and training expenses, because if he didn't face Povetkin, he would have probably faced someone else (although perhaps for far less money).

But then again. Boxers don't work on retainers, so my comparison is by no means a perfect analogy, either.

4.3M guaranteed and I think the winner received something like 700k extra. So that would be 2 1/2 million. A lot fairer than earning a full purse, you may be right. The judge may decide along the same line of reason that you're putting fourth here.

Your actually spot on with your anology Rumsfeld, Wilder not only wasted his money in sparring camp, nutrition, travel, accommodation but there's also the opportunity cost that he could of had another fight instead of the Povetkin fight which would have also made him money,

I think this amount is good because it makes an example out of Povetkin for potential drug cheats who wanna sue someone when they clearly were the ones in the position of fault.

Wilder the pathetic woman. Could only win in court instead of fighting with his gloves like a man.

Probably begged Al Haymon to find a way for him to avoid having to fight Povekin. Al Haymon had to pull out all the stops to set Povetkin up just so his son could carry on the charade of being a credible HW.

Makes me wonder if something similar can happen to Fury with the Wladimir fights.

Hey, I'm glad he has to pay. It hurts a man more when you sock it to his pockets.
Team Haymon has been shutting down mutha-suckers all over the place. A lot of guys are mad for reason that I'm about to say because everyone has been PC about this. It's simply about race on the internet. From Thunderdome to Peril and Forza(thats better because **** Forza, stupid *racial slur*) it's about watching people you don't like, because of their race, beat white people at their own game.
I understand it fully. I used to be the boss of tons of white guys who hated that I out ranked them in the military and I deal with it today in work and business.
Good for Wilder and his team. He should build a mansion and name a wing after Povetkin.

"Bomb Squad" knew Wilder had a case against Povetkin as they just had to look and highlight the doping as a breach in their contract. Then you add on top that it was a heavily anticipated fight where there was too much riding on it for it to fall apart and you certainly have a case where they could foresee that someone was going to pay.

Everythings going according to plan for Wilder. The jurors have given their verdict and Im assuming Wilder is expecting the judge to follow suit. I mean why have a jury in the first place if they dont count for nothing. They did their research, they know what theyre doing. IMO I think its just.
