should brook be considered damaged goods? call it now

props to brook and hearn for making a fight they probably could have skirted around if they really wanted...its a tough fight and a great matchup the fans really want....this is adding to an exciting early part of the year

so...now on to kell brook....who/what is he?

is he damaged goods from the orbital "injury"....is he boiling down and killing himself to make WW?

the possibility exists that neither of these questions matter if he were to win....but if he were to lose....are either of these going to be reasons?

i personally think he wasnt hurt before or during the ggg fight....as Isal pointed out that eye injury didnt look bad.....now i realize not all injuries are equal....but the way it was stopped and his reaction suggest a guy that wasnt hurt to me...i personally think it was a bum excuse for them stopping it before he could get hurt....thats just my IMO on the injury matter

how does ESB feel?

 

I think the eye didn't take as much damage it could of done if the fight went on. Brook didn't get immediate surgery which tells me it wasn't that bad.

 

yeah....just trying to get a general idea about how people feel about brook right now ....in the event spence wins i dont wanna hear the excuses.....it could be a moot point though...brook could definitley win...its a tough one to call

I think his corner saved him from any long term damage. So no. Plus he took a massive risk jumping 2 weight classes so his stock isn't damaged either. We'll see if the eye is an issue, but I don't think it was quite as bad as say Margaritos after Pac.

 

nah ...nothing but props....im giving brook credit for even making it...he could have skirted around this fight and the only people that would have cried really are the hardcores here at ESB......i fully ackowledge that brook could win this fight and if he does then he gets credit....i dont think anyone is going to make excuses for spence if he loses

 

I think his eye was giving him grief. But he was taking shots and they prob pulled him out the save him for another day.

So in my opinion he isn't damaged goods. He didn't get a beat down but he did get beat.

If Spence wins he has beat a good fighter to win the belt.

Kudo to Brook for taking a fight he didn't have to. Kudos to Spence for travelling and not looking to win a paper belt.

Will be a great fight. Lots of questions marks heading in but 2 quality fighters and is the best welterweight fight.

 

i dont think anyone was questioning whether or not his "stock" was damaged...just talking eye and weight

interesting you bring margaritos eye after pac up...i personally think brooks eye was similar to pacs injury after floyd...non existent....he just got hit there and it was a lil swollen....i think it was reason made up to stop it before he really did get hurt....

First of all I never said Brook would never fight Spence, I said he was scared to fight him and I stand by that.

Brooks size is hugely overstated, he was muscular at 160lbs but not vascular he barely had abs!!!!
Brook just carried a little extra fat and water, he didn't gain muscle AND HE ONLY WENT UP 13LBS FFS!!!!

Compare Brook @ 147 looking shredded as **** to fat Brook @ 160 with hardly any definition and muscles bulging with extra water.

Compare CEJ @ 160 to CEJ @ 168lbs and the definition is hardly even noticeable if CEJ put on another 5lbs he would still be shredded as ****!!!!!

If CEJ goes back to 160 you wont see me complaining he was drained, Brook can't claim he's drained.

Brook didn't even get beat up that bad, give him 2 more rounds and we can talk.

When Spence bashes Brook there will be no excuses Brook was never on his level and never will be!!!!!

 

Wasn't Brooks orbital broken? Sure Margarito's may have been worse, but it's the same injury at the end of the day.

im questioning the legitimacy or "level" of the injury....i wouldnt questions margaritos at all....to me brooks seems fishy...it was swollen...im sure it wasnt perfect....but i dont think it was some majory injury
