He was quite a slickster. Had a spoling style. Never got any really big fights but did hold the spurious WBO title for some time. Didn't take much punishment so fought into his 40s.
I was going over some old fights in my collection, and one of his popped out, i went to see him defend against Pat Barrett, i was aware of him before the fight as he had a full page advert type on himself, i think it was boxing monthly magazine. I had never heard of him before, and remember lots of people saying this will be easy for Pat. But the fight turned out as i expected because like you say, he was a very clever slickster, i think Barrett only managed to hit him with 1 good clean shot. Was there any reason why the big fights didn't happen for him.
He did travel the world defending his title But he did have a name as a spoiler and made fights boring to the casual boxing fan so never really made it to a TV name I remember thinking the fight was going to be an easy one for pat barrett Lost the title to Eamonn loughran
Went all over the world defending his WBO title .must have made a few quid.had slick smart stile which meant he had a long career.don't know what he's up to now ? Hope he is doing well.
I remember him outclassing Jeff Malcolm in Jeff's backyard on the Gold Coast in Australia. Jeff was a cagy awkward southpaw too but Galloway was better and shut him out widely. He was slick as mentioned and a real world traveller. He wasn't much to watch, couldn't punch but was effective. I don't know who his management or promoter were but the amount of travelling to the other guys backyard and lack of a name opponent on his resume suggest he probably did it largely by himself or had a real bargain basement representative. But he was a good solid pro and had a decent career so props to him.
He is from my hometown. Ironically, he was on the road so much that I only got to see him box once. Agree he was a cutsie type spoiler. Last I heard, he was running a lawn care company.
Very crafty, spoiling type. Lost his WBO crown against Dane Gert Bo Jacobsen... in one of the biggest hometown robberies I've ever seen!
I hope he is doing well too I remember now reading an article either online or in a magazine about him running a lawn care company and running half marathons and still liked to train. I will try to find it and post it on here Cool guy
