Who you got? I cant pick....Big fans of both fighters.
The brutal power and precision of Tyson or the chin and will with natural boxing talent of Marciano.

I think this fights been debated since tyson burst on to the scene. Next to Ali v tyson its one of those that always splits people s opinion. Before tyson lost a heck of a lot of people would have picked tyson no problem. But with tyson career played out with all the losses it's definitely a split now. I personally pick tyson to win if he gets rocky out early. Which of course is tyson most dangerous and rock a slow starter. That s probably the most likely scenario. But if he can get through those early rounds and keep banging away then he could do it. My head says tyson but heart is marciano.

Tyson deposits Marciano to the canvas within one round.

Fergy I couldn't agree more....I think Tyson was so explosive and would have been big trouble for Marciano if he landed clean connections! but if Marciano could whether the storm and frustrate Tyson I believe Mike wouldn't last having cardio and stamina always being a problem and Rocky would get him out of there in the later rounds. I think Tyson would win but I would want Rocky to end up victorious...

When you match a pure finisher like Tyson, against a pure swarmer like Marciano, I tend to favour the pure finisher.

This is going to be a case of two trains colliding, and Tyson is going to get more done soonest, while Marciano is going to need more rounds to close the deal.

This means that Tyson probably closes it first.

I don't know about one round, the guys back then were cut from a different cloth...and Marciano was a block of concrete.

I can remember a boxing mag many years ago, not sure if it was ring or boxing scene, anyway it was when tyson was at his peak round about spinks. It pitted tyson v rock. Rocky was knocked down twice in the first round but came back to knock tyson down in the thirteenth. It went the full distance and tyson won by unanimous Dec. That s when tyson was deemed unbeatable...

I love Marciano but here I have to go with smoking-from-the-forge Tyson that Cus d'Amato had moulded into a killing machine. Prime Tyson had explosive speed, accuracy and power, and in this case would have a large size advantage over his rival. His peekaboo was an effective defence to getting clipped big, and he had a good chin to back it up. What's more, he wouldn't have to go looking for him, either.

I'm not going to write Rocky off completely, because a guy with heart and power like him always has a chance, but stylistically and physically, things don't look good for him. I guess if Marciano landed big in the early wild exchanges he could rock Tyson enough to weather the storm and take him into deeper waters and drown him there. A long fight definitely favours Marciano. But, I gotta be honest, I don't see it.

    Somebody prove me wrong ;)

Definitely James Dean. Marciano v tyson is right up there with Ali v tyson and Joe Louis. Putting rocky the undefeated against the 80s bad boy.

It's those early opening tyson rushes that are dangerous for any heavy.. But remember Bruno wasn't the greatest of chins but came back from a first round kd to wobble him, and take him in to the fifth. Ruddock went down early but came back, even jesse ferguson gave him a bit of trouble. So there is definitely hope that a guy like rock could survive the blitz and get back in to the fight. Yes I no these guys lost to tyson but we have to put rock above Bruno and ruddock surely. I'm still leaning to a early win for Mike but like I say if rock can weather the storm..

Right then your realize you are just another racist white guy who TV hero is Marciano. Marciano was 180 would be considered a light heavyweight or small cruiserweight if he fought today and Mike Tyson weighed 220 pounds. This cut from a different cloth is just your way of saying Marciano is white so is above logic. Marciano got his butt whipped by 177 pound Ted Lowry and almost got knocked out. But Tyson struggled against Douglas and Lewis right? Your point is? He struggled against people who were heavyweights not light heavyweights.

Tyson knocks out Marciano in less than 30 seconds. End of story.

One problem we have here is that we don't know precisely how good Marciano's chin was, because nobody ever cracked it.

The known facts leave a fairly wide range of possibilities open, when he is matched against a puncher like Tyson.
