The boxer in a street fight is not easy to pull down as it's not a confined space - he can keep going back on the street as the mma guy goes for repeat td's and probably eats several shots. There's nothing stopping the boxer using elbows and kicks either, or headbutts and other dirty stuff.

Been done before, boxers will always fail against a wrestler. James Toney being a classic example. The only way a boxer competes in MMA is if he keeps the fight standing.

Of course it's closer to the real thing. I mean most people who can't fight throw a few ***** slaps and proceed to wrestle on the floor like a pair of homosexuals.......

The entire idea of boxing is NOT to be like 'real fighting'. The idea of boxing was that it was the way of gentlemen adhering to strict rules to settle a difference without hurting your opponent for life.

He had to steam in on his feet and get the job done. Kimbo slice submitted him previously. As I said, they have to keep it standing.

I think it makes it inferior, boxing is governed by rules that make it more than just a street scrap, it makes the sport more technical and more skillfull.

    Don't kid yourself.

However, boxers do typically have a much higher level of conditioning than other arts and that counts for a lot.

Sylvia thought that because he was a huge guy he could throw hands with Mercer.

Well, that turned out well ... for Mercer.

If the giant dumbass had actually used his edge and taken him down the result would have been way different.

MMA is closer to a real fight. But define your meaning of "superior". Better to watch? Not necessarily. Better for self defence? Probably.

But it also depends a lot on the person, more than the disciplines involved. I'd take a serious boxer over a half assed MMA guy anytime.

Boxing is a gentleman's sport. It has so many rules and regulations toe nsure fights are fought on an even keel.

If boxing was superior to MMA Mayweather could go into the Octagon and beat McGregor.

Of course that isn't what would happen, if you don't practice BJJ you can't defend take down attempts and you certainly can't defend submission attempts.
