I remember hearing London bad mouth Chuvalo years ago. I wonder why they never fought. I think George would have pummeled him senseless. Thoughts?
Chuvalo easily, far too good and tough for London London was a character though and was a loved hated star in the UK
A right good rough scrap this I bet. Chuvalo would be throwing everything in the book and more at London. Brian will try his best but George a little above in all departments. Chuvalo stops a senseless battered London in the mid round s.
London was not championship level...and neither was Chuvalo. London knocked out Joe Erskine who beat Chuvalo. I don't see anything on paper that says Chuvalo is better. George gave Ali and Patterson a better fight than London did but George ultimately lost both times just like Brian did. Chuvalo lost to Pete Radmacher and Brian knocked him out. Chuvalo lost to Howard King and Brian knocked him out too. George lost to Foley and Brian beat Foley. Chuvalo lost to Corletti. I just don't see it as being impossible that George could lose to Brian London. It is 50-50. Brian London was a lot better than Ali made him look. This fight was scheduled in 1965 and Chuvalo pulled out four hours before fight time. London was furious and refused to fight him after that.
Wow! I never heard that. I bet there is a story behind that! I recall hearing that big Cat Williams refused to fight hours before a scheduled rematch with D!ck Richardson. Williams was spooked by voices in his head after he could not find his "lucky shorts". It was not considered an acceptable excuse to cancel.
