Excited... I think he's going to wait for Woodley/Thompson II to pan out before planning his next move.

Surprised you'd like a fighter like GSP. You strike me as someone who loves them knockouts.

He's definitely not one of my all time favorites, but his return is definitely good for the sport.

I don't like this at all. Bisping should be fighting the top dogs at 185 not avoiding them. I would be happy if gsp comes back to fight anyone in the top 5 at 170.

Yes GSP-Bisping is an interesting fight at 185 but not when the title is on the line. No thanks. Titles should mean something.

UFC is going down the boxing route rapidly.

And if gsp were to win would he then defend against Romero/Mousasi/Weidman/Rockhold etc etc. Of course he won't he would probably hand pick Anderson. Titles won't mean anything in the ufc if this continues.

Bisping fighting Henderson then GSP/Silva sets a dangerous precedent.

Romero, Souza and Rockhold all deserve a shot ahead of either of those men.

One big name defence against a man who handed the champ a brutal knockout loss, I can buy into that. But facing a former WW champ is not a good look for me.

Bisping vs Romero or Rockhold has to be next.

Let GSP face Silva in a superfight, winner of that is probably knocking on the doors of the top 5 and maybe then a championship fight could be warranted.

Right. Bisping had his 'easy' legacy defense, now he's obligated to face a top contender. What's the deal with Romero? Thought that fight was supposed to happen... The man who really deserves the shot shot is Souza though.

Yeah it's really frustrating if he keeps taking the big money fights over the more competitive matchups.

Can anyone see GSP beating Bisping? Not sure I can... even a prime GSP would have his hands full. Bisping was able to stuff a prime Sonnens takedowns and GSP surely isn't outstriking him.

    Yes, I definitely can.

But, I can't stand Bisping so call me biased ;)

St Pierre is a standout athlete. If he's anywhere near a good form I'd give him a solid chance of beating the Count. The fact that Gramps Henderson nearly wrecked Bisping a second time tells me that GSP is in with a shot.

Of course if Georges arrives with love handles, eating donuts, disregard what I just said and give Bisping my congratulations on his imminent victory.

Styles make fights. Bisping could have also had a much easier time than he did had he stuck to to the gameplan and avoided careless exchanges with Hendo.

What do you think GSP has that troubles Bisping? Size? nope. Workrate? nope. Power? nope. Wrestling? Bisping is renowned for his TDD and has stuffed takedowns from much bigger and powerful wrestlers like Sonnen. Just can't see where GSP would trouble him. Bisping struggles are against powerful strikers - that GSP is not.

I guess that we'll see. Maybe I am overrating GSP and underrating Bisping.

St Pierre is just very good all round. I think he'll be able to come up with a gameplan to derail Bisping. I remember Koscheck scoffing at GSP's wrestling and he ended up getting dominated.

This could potentially be a very good fight, if I'm honest.

I rate both extremely highly, and rate GSP considerably higher than Bisping. But as far as they match up... Like I said... Styles. Bisping is a volume striker with truly exceptional stamina and great takedown defense. Look at his career and the guys who have troubled him the most. All great strikers and more often than not pressure fighters with great power. Wrestlers really haven't troubled him all that much at MW... I thought he beat Sonnen and was unlucky to get the decision, and with Kennedy he was coming off a long layoff and surgery for a detached retina - not to take anything away from Kennedy but Bisping didn't look himself that night. Even then Kennedy is a much bigger and more powerful guy than GSP.

Good post. I don't really have much to say in return. I suppose I could lift out the Matt Hamill fight as an example of Bisping getting taken down at will - but he was pretty darn green back then, admittedly. Look forward to this one.
