I never saw him get cut against Vitali. I suspect his corner were paid to find a reason to pull him out, and he was paid to keep it secret.

Cute and this is insulting or does it suppose to be funny? Maybe you need to try harder. Or maybe you need to learn boxing more.

If you think Puritty was anything than a journeyman level fighter then maybe you should get a new sport to follow. The guy was 31 and 20. Besides knocked out overrated Wlad who did he beat?

He was a club fighter fighter who was overweight most of the time. He wasn't even a big puncher because as I said who else did beat or knock out.

Now you get put on ignored for being a "dum dum". When you learn about boxing more than maybe you will get unblocked.

Everyone hypes up guys like Takam ..who actually fought no one and has no wins in 12 years. the differance is Purity was imposing and proved that with the likes of Morrison and Wlad ( even though BOTH let him off the hook by not fighting smart)

If anything he proves why weight classes were created bc MOST guys LIKE him would defeat smaller guys on size alone. Im pretty sure he would K.O Ron lyle too,who was a force in HIS era.

    Really?

Puritty lost to Chris Byrd, Kirk Johnson, Eddie Chambers and Eliser Castillo who were all smaller men than Ron Lyle as well as Ross Puritty so that disproves your theorem from the get go.

Ross Purrity=Medium talent, great chin, a good solid journeyman type capable of springing an upset on a given night but no better than that.

Alas you are probably right. However, I think if he'd had a better trainer and started earlier he could have been a scary dude even for the elites. Chin + power + size are already a great starting point for a heavy.

Very true and I don't mean to belittle the guy as I admire him quite a bit.

I don't think he had an amateur career to speak of but turned pro and faced a very solid level of opposition from very early in his career. He didn't have a great skill set unless you count his durability as a skill (and lets be honest it's a great attribute to have in boxing) but he ended up having a fairly good career and scored some good victories against more highly fancied opponents.

Durable, tough blokes like Puritty who fight anyone no questions asked are a promoters dream even more so than prima donna world champions in many cases.

The biggest fight of his life is being fought right now. He has a non stop obsession these days with trying to bring Trump down on social media.

I've always been interested in these fighters like Mike Weaver, he lost his first 2 pro fights, and at one point he was 6-6. Then he somehow turns his career around and becomes WBA champion. Same with guys like Freddie Pendleton, journeyman who become champs, or contenders, even fringe contenders.
I used to love USA Tuesday night fights. I remember Jimmy Thunder who was ranked in the top ten fought Maurice Harris who was 8-8. Thinking this was going to be a mismatch. This unknown journeyman puts on a boxing clinic, and ko's a top 10 contender. Then he gives Larry Holmes hell in a razor thin loss which the decision could have gone either way or been a draw. Guys like this always pique my curiousity. I hope Mike Weaver writes a book one day, I recently read Scott Ledoux's autobiography which was a great book.

Are you red / green color blind or suggesting Ross quit?

Purrity was cut. Vitali beat on him.

What I implied is that he was not cut by Vitali

Oh sure his own corner cut him to stop the fight. You'll need to some time to top that one.

There was definitely a cut. But it wasn't a bad one at all and it didn't seem to be hindering Purity. I think Ross could have lasted a bit longer, perhaps even gone the distance but of course that's a tough call when you're a ringside doctor, referree or cornerman responsible for the well being of a fighter
