I know certain heavy s are at the top of the hardest punching lists but who could be deemed the or one of the strongest physically? For example tyson was a v very good explosive puncher but it appeared at times as if he could be pushed around fairly easily by certain guys. Foreman seemed to be one of the strongest and Bruno is probably there. What about Jeffries, fitzsimmons, marciano.? I've read Lewis was the strongest some said they fought whilst marciano is in the list to?
Nobody knows, but it won't stop people making insistent guesses. My uninsistent guess is Lennox Lewis.
How about Hasim Rahman, he handled Lennox Lewis like a ragdoll during their brawl on ESPN. Also Primo Carnera wrestled professionally after his boxing career ended, I've seen footage of him bodyslamming other guys so he definitely had some impressive strength.
Good answers lads. Would have been interested to see Lewis and foremen clash. Jack johnson seemed to be pushing Jeffries around easily, even at one point pushing Jeffries arm up his back and shoving him round the ring. And Jeffries was no weakling. Ali always said he would try out a opponents strength in a clinch and laughed at Richard Dunn!
Oh yes, Rahman was pretty strong, he rarely showed it in the fights cause he lacked some other attributes, but that brawl on ESPN showed how strong physically Hasim is.
Nikolai Valuev certainly didn't punch his weight but someone that size has got to up near the top when it came to sheer physical strength.
Interesting notes about SNV power from himself (on Valuev's personal page in one of the Russian webcites): That are his records at his peak: bench press - 375 lbs*1 squats - 485 lbs*1
Not really an expert on powerlifting or size to weights lifted ratios but I take it those are pretty impressive stats?
