The first fight was an entertaining scrap! no doubt about that. Now it's a crossroads fight (which is always violent by necessity). Winner will be the mando to Thurman/Garcia via the WBC belt!
Ref ruined it with his constant useless verbal commands. and that hatman guy...talk about corruption & dodgyness.
It was originally scheduled for May 19, 2012, right off the heels of their first fight in December '11.
Peterson will give Khan all kind of problems. But yeah fcuk Khan. Also would this mean he officially loses his WBC ranking if he goes down the WBA route. It's ridiculous that he has held that number 1 ranking for so long
I actually agree with you re: Brook and Garcia. I'm not a big Khan fan by any stretch, but regarding Peterson, he still got screwed. As for the others, Brook would destroy him, and even shot Garcia would likely repeat the trick.
I've always had love for Khan and genuinely liked the dude but i know he will never get in the ring with Cotto or Kell Brook. Khan will never go back up to 154 pounds and Cotto is not coming back down for no one. Brook would put the beats on Khan and he knows it himself which is the reason this fight would never happen. The winner of Thurman/Garcia? Now thats a more realistic fight. I can see Khan fighting either man.
So five year's ago then. He's in no hurry for rematches, is he? I mean in terms of the 2nd half of his career. The first half I have a lot of respect for. But after waiting around two years for the Mayweather cash-cow fight he seemed to lose motivation and now it's hard to take him seriously.
I don't get the hate for this fight. Brook is facing Spence, Garcia is facing Thurman. Pacquiao, Bradley and Peterson are all very good fights for Khan.
We'd have seen the rematch already if Peterson hadn't tested positive. I still give Khan credit for going for it straight away. I do believe that this particular rematch, in 2017, is born more out of a combination of convenience and Khan knowing his level than anything else, though. He took his big risk, big payday fight vs Canelo and damn near got killed for it, and it looks like he's going to dial it back now.
Yeah agreed, Khan used to have cojones back then, but now he's semi-retired he's not the warrior he once was, I'm afraid.
Khan vs. Broner Lamont is intriguing for several WW's. Khan is down the list a little bit. Although I did enjoy their fight and thought Khan edged it, despite as usual rooting against him.
Khan was robbed of KD in the rd 1 of their fight, given unfair refereeing while Lamont came in head first and Khan simply was pushing his head back or down to avoid a clash, and the ref steals a point. Khan won 8-4 by most ALL fair observers cards, scored a KD and was wrongfully, IMO, deducted a point. I cheered like holy hell for Peterson when the corrupt officials gave him the nod, but only cause Im a fan. Peterson has gone on to narrowly, but legitimately beat future top WW Diaz, he schooled and then battered Garcia, and just beat a fairly solid top 10 WW in Avanesyan. Yes, Thurman, Pacqioua, and Brook are the LEGITIMATE top 3 in the division, but..........I would have no problem with this fight, especially knowing that Danny will get NO GIFT vs Thurman, and his best chance of victory is the referee DQing KT for landing another punch while Danny's limp body is on the way down. That said.....Peterson KTFO Khan in a rematch.
McCloskey got screwed Lomond to you going to cry them a river Ffs If everything ain't going my way and the ref does his job in warning me about my illegal in ring antics I'm calling illuminate Gtfoh
