Scott Quigg has left Gallagher’s Gym and will now train at Freddie Roach’s Wild Card gym, it has been confirmed.

His departure from Joe Gallagher's Lancashire-based team was on "amicable terms" according to Matchroom, his promoters.

The former WBA super-bantamweight champion will move to Los Angeles this week to begin work with Hall of Fame trainer Roach.

"After six years of working together, I announce my departure from Joe Gallagher," said Quigg. "We have been a great team and achieved a lot and had some great wins together.

"This is an opportunity that I couldn't pass up and I believe this move and change will take me to another level. I'd like to thank Joe for everything he has done for me; he is a tremendous coach and friend, which we will remain.
"Our first fight together was for the British title and I went on to become world champion under his guidance and for that I will be forever grateful. I wish Joe and all the lads every success in the future."

"I have moved up to featherweight with the goal of becoming a two-weight world champion and believe I need a fresh challenge to help me grow.
Over the last few weeks, I've been in America training and I'm delighted to announce I will be basing myself in Los Angeles at the Wild Card gym working under the guidance of Freddie Roach.

Quigg rebounded from a broken jaw sustained in last February's world title unification defeat to Carl Frampton, his sole career loss, to begin his featherweight push with a stoppage win against Jose Cayetano.

I think a change could be good for Quigg.

A lot of humble pie to be consumed by crow eating joe g defenders. After the Frampton fiasco I was attacked constantly by a stream of idiots saying " ....there's nothing wrong with Gallagher...he did nothing wrong....the proof is that Quigg stays with him...bosh Bkah ".etc
Well not any more fellas...looks like Scott wised up. Once again I have been vindicated and my detractors smashed... :)

Good move, I don't rate Quigg that highly but it's still good to see UK guys go over to the US to train.

Frankie should have done this long time ago Murray would have also benefitted but issues in the way
Brook to Ronnie shields would have been great for him for a few years

This has amused me greatly. I also don't rate Joe as a tactician. I do also consistently slam drugs cheats and gangsters so we can't agree on everything!

Quigg with the right gameplan and a bit more IQ could beat frampton

Great move, wish the kid well.
Judging from previous interviews, he's always fancied the LA lifestyle and when you compare it to Bury (forgetting any family ties) it's not really a hard choice is it..

Joe G might be a good trainer but twice his tactics/corner work has caused Scott not to get wins, in the Salinas and Frampton fights.

Salinas decision was a blatant robbery though

I hated LA. It's absolutely full of homeless people, run down and public transport is a joke which is particularly galling considering everything is a drive away from wherever you are.

It's like a collection of little towns linked by motorways.
