Bunch of hogwash. There is no such thing as natural size or weight. There are genetic factors but so much is determined by diet, health, and exercise. All this talk of bone structure or frame, you do you realize that the density of the male human skeleton varies considerably via diet intake until the age of 35 on average? That's right, a dense skeleton isn't this magic blessing that is fixed in stone. And again, people can't seem to differentiate physical power from size. Foreman and Ali were only separated by 4 pounds in the Rumble in the Jungle. They are the same height and reach. They are similar sized mature men in the ring that night. Foreman being stronger does not make him bigger or "naturally bigger", he is just stronger, like Ali is faster. I also love the "don't lift weight" claim. That could very well be true, but I guarantee, these men did some sort of resistance training. Hitting a heavy bag, even running and jumping rope can build muscle.
I repeat size is about "volume", not just sheer weight. Basic English grammar. Whoever is bigger overall in terms of frame and height is usually considered the bigger man unless there is not only a huge gap in weight, but the size discrepency is small. Um, when were people saying that if two people weigh the same that theyre going to have equal physicao strength or speed? I think most educated fans know this. And this lacks context. Foreman was a big stocky guy weighing 230 lbs in the amateurs. His team for whatever reason made him boil down to the 217-220 range. Ali on the other hand fought at light heavy in the amateurs/olympics and was fairly lean and slim even in his prime weighing 205 in some fights if i recall correctly.
And I repeat again Glen Johnson was bigger than Guillermo Jones. Now he is not. It is dynamic and changes.
Hearns always seemed thinner and lanky, if u hadn't seen any of his fight s u would have presumed he couldn't punch like he could with that frame, but of course it's not all about your actual body weight or frame. Hagler seemed more stocky but hearns was a more one shot explosive puncher.
An interesting one that isn't it. Wilder has all of the measurements on his size apart from the one which boxing sets as it's divisional difference. Wilder is one of the few HW fighters today who could realistically have made CW for the a portion of his career, despite having long reach and big height. Plus you also have to consider Wilder might well go into fights at a heavier weight than Toney ever did. As I've said it's a dynamic thing and in 2008 the bigger man was Toney without doubt. If a SHW division was ever formed and the limit was 230 Toney would have competed in it where as Wilder wouldn't have. Being bigger is not a constant, it changes.
Wow so the 5'10 tub of lard james toney is "bigger" than deontay wilder. Some posts will always surprise me.
Golovkin is bigger than Demetrious Andrade as well. One day the reverse might be true but for now you'd have to say Golovkin is the bigger man, despite being shorter having less reach and less "volume" as you say.
what a bunch of ****.... Foreman weighed 230 pounds at 19 in the amateurs and Ali was a skinny 190 pounder. Foreman looked slender at 220 and ali looked packed of mass at 220. Foreman had bigger frame. Foreman looked at 235-240 just like ali looked at 220-225 pounds with the difference that Foreman looked solid and robust and ali did not
Yeah, when they were 19 year old kids, Foreman seems to be bigger. Doesn't matter. You have two 6'3" men separated by a margin of about 4 pounds, which is nothing on men this size. One man may be better built for power, the other better built for speed and endurance, but they are still the same size. Stronger does not equate to bigger.
