Would ruddock have held a belt in the 80 s?

    Razor came along at a time where the division was packed with top talent. So how would he have done against the guys of the 80s? Larry holmes stands out of the pack as surely to much for razor but what about the other guys,? Tate, berbick, tubbs, witherspoon? How would he have done with younger versions of dokes, page, weaver and Smith.? And not a mention of the greatest fighter in the world Mr tyson in this thread :ARMS1:

    I'm sure he could have wrestled away a strap from one of those guys especially if one of them were having an off night. Ruddock wasn't THAT bad and most of those guys weren't THAT good.

    Hi Mr M good to hear from you. Yes think he could have got at least one belt, he would probably have looked spectacular doing so then be knocked out in his next fight. But he would have been a dangerous contender.

    Absolutely. Where inconsistency reigned supreme Ruddock would win one at some point.

    Yes Razor could have won a title. However he was similar in attitude to Ike as both had a
    reputation as sullen and mean . Larry Holmes called him a punk , pure and simple. They
    both had battles that ruined them . Ike with Tua and Razor with Tyson . Both were
    train wrecks waiting to happen and for that reason Razor reign would be short.

    Would have been a good one between witherspoon and razor. Both guys capable of hurting the other!

    Ruddock is about the level of the WBA holders throughout the 80's.

    He'd win some and lose some imo.

    Think a few belt holders like Thomas prime page, witherspoon would have beaten him. Witherspoon would either ko him or ruddock would flatten Tim. I think he stands a very good chance against tate, Coetzee, weaver. Think those guys he would definitely beat.

    No, he had strength and guts but never that smart. While I do beileve Ruddock of Tyson fight had a chance to be a champ in 80's but even in that fight , he's not fighting Mike at his best but still got dropped multiple times.

    Tucker would beat him and even Holmes would probably outpointed him.

    Tucker only beaten once in 80's and that was by prime Mike and he also stopped Douglas despite Douglas great showing in that bout. He didnt lose again until losing decision to Lewis in 1993.

    I agree that his two bouts against Mike ruined him though, he just couldnt withstand punches anymore after those battles. Tyson definetely landing alot more and landing the bigger blow. Tyson broke his jaw in the rematch and his face looks like abomination.

    Tucker, yes can see him in his prime beating razor. Holmes would stop him I believe but can see him been caught a few times by razor and shaken up but end result is holmes ko s him

    If razor fought in his usual crash bang stile Tubbs n Thomas out point him spoon Kos him as does Tucker .he could possibly beat the rest a younger Bonecrusher could do him .A fight with Berbeck would be fun just two big blokes swapping shots

    Oh yes with love to see berbick and razor go at it. Trevor was a tough guy and the tyson ko was a one off in a lot of ways. But ruddock could definitely do it to I think

    Razor Ruddock vs Ron Lyle would've been a treat for all boxing fans .

    Although Lyle career pretty much ended in 1980.

    I would go with Lyle to get the win .
