Ward is in the driver's seat because he won, BUT THE TERMS ARE ALREADY DECIDED FROM THE FIRST FIGHT! There is nothing else that needs to be done.

Ward does have a right to retire, but as of now he hasn't actually retired so him not being subject to the drug testing 3 months prior to the fight is going to put him in breach. The fight already actually had a tentative date, as was decided in the contract in the first fight. If Ward doesn't do the drug testing soon and also doesn't retire, then he is in breach of contract. Honestly, I expect Ward to go through with the fight and for us to hear an update within in a month, but it is still a strong possibility that this will have to go to court.

so what are the terms? theyve decided the venue? the amount of money? everything? beforehand...without knowing how well the first fight was going to do on ppv? what was the date they had picked out?

Hog wash! These type of things get renegotiated all the time.

The terms are written. That is how this works. Trust me.
The monetary compensation is already decided upon from the first fight. It favors the winner, which was Ward.
The terms are based on the first fight; it doesn't exactly matter the exact number of what the first fight did as it is just a relative number to the first fight. All of that is decided upon already.
Ward doesn't agree to take 5 mil for the rematch. If he got 5 mil for the first fight (plus a PPV upside I'm assuming) then it is likely that he will get 7 or something. I wouldn't know the exact numbers; I'm not privy to THAT much information, but I do know that the terms are already agreed upon. That is how these things work.

oh id love to hear the terms....but i guess ill just "trust" you....lol

what if the first fight had done 900k ppvs? would ward still only get 7 million? since you said the rematch terms were written before the first fight even happened.....

They get renegotiated, but they aren't even in the process of doing that. And the terms of this were already pretty cut and dry. There isn't even anything to renegotiate, lol. Ward already gets...everything he could possibly want, especially since he agreed to these terms in the first fight. And by that I mean he agreed to the terms of the potential rematch should he win the first fight.

You're acting as if these rematch clauses, put into contracts before the first fight, are ironclad. I have no idea when you keep insisting on this, when this historically is typically not the case. Especially since Main Events isn't exactly known as being the most competent promotion outfit in the lot.

No, he would get a percentage. Again I don't know exactly how that works, but I know it is written in a way that benefits the winner, which was Ward. Again, the negotiations were already decided upon from the first fight.

Kovalev was robbed. Even if you or Ward don't agree with that sentiment. STILL the honourable things for you to advocate or for Ward is to come out and say, YES, there will be a rematch. Instead of ohh maybe I'll retire, ohh it won't sell, ohh I want more money..

I'm going to take a guess and assume that he's just quoting that half-wit Kathy Duva.

This one is pretty basic. Logically what more could Ward want anyway?

Yeah that also concerned me. It looks like he wouldn't make less money though. Kov is probably going to make way less, but that's expected since he only got...what was it, 3? when he came in with the belt.

i hate to bag on kathy...and kovalev....cause i really like kova....but this dude came in with the belts and took some bad money...and apparently they let 3 of wards friends judge the fight too? i mean........to me it seems they were pretty confident they were going to knock ward out
