    Jack Johnson in his prime?
Could he outsmart Foreman in the pocket?

I think Lennox Lewis would get absolutely smashed if he stood up to Foreman. Wrong thing for him to do.

Liston, Tyson, Lyle, Mercer, Witherspoon, McCall. Maybe not all would win but they all can go toe to toe.

    Yes George`s defense would be open for Joe Louis {one of the most accurate punchers}
    chin up, no head movement

But, if you're in Foreman's firing range, you're one punch away from nuclear disaster.

If Foreman connects square on his chin then I agree. But I think the same could happen in reverse. Lewis had devastating power in both hands and laid out plenty of larger plodding punchers.. And George didn't have the best defense in the 70's. He was also decked twice by Lyle and stopped by Ali ( though that had more to do with stamina. )

Probably not. But I think Lewis may be just as capable of knocking out Foreman as well

Lewis would do exactly as he did with Tyson, Tua, Ruddock and others, land the big right very early in the first round to get Foremans respect. I wanna see how Foreman reacts to that, will he still come out as aggresive?

Joe louis would be much harder than liston. The problem is that george took a much better shot but yes a good combination of louis could stop nearly anyone

Its a picke 'em fight for me. Both of these guys could knock out the other with something big. My inclination is to go with Lewis though by virtue of the fact that he had the height, reach, mobility, and outside boxing ability to land first and more often.. That and he also had a track record of beating fighters of a similar making to Foreman as previously stated. Only way I can see Foreman winning is if Lewis get's a little too brave for his own good or does something foolish giving George the window of opportunity that he needs to land a big one-Two combo on the chin. But if Steward is in Lewis's corner and Lennox does everything he's told its going to be a very tough ( and potentially short ) night for Big George.

I wish we saw Foreman Lewis in 97, call me a sadist but that would have been fun to watch.

True. I tend to look at not who hits harder but which fighter is more likely to land cleaner shots and combinations.

Ron Lyle proved that to be false. As a matter of fact he was the only other 220's plus guy like foreman who had actual Hw punch power so many guys could have done it.

Foreman of the 1990's is another story ,he was near impossible to knock out and was never knocked out by much heavier hitters than he had faced in other eras. I dont think you can go punch for punch with this foreman because his chin was great and that's because he was mentally stronger ,paced himself and was BIGGER. ( yes size can add punch resistance, thats why weight classes were created.) Punch for punch probably not.

He can be out boxed and was in both eras, Axel Shultz stood directly in front of him as did Holyfiled, and Alex Stewart survived and busted him up ,i don't think hes unbeatable bc he wasn't, Just difficult to fight bc you had a big strong guy who could punch and keep coming forward.

    Vitali klitchko
    Lennox Lewis
    Mike Tyson
    Wlad Klitchko
    Larry Holmes

All are big favorites over him in that order. These would be the top 5 popular champions who would win .

Dempsey, Louis, Liston, maybe mercer and Cobb might well win toe to toe....foreman might just gas out...nevertheless the first three mentioned were more dangerous punchers...max beer if motivated by ko
