Why do people act that Chavez Jr. never pulled out of the PPV fight with Golovkin in 2014?

I am reading the third thread about Chavez Jr. "clowning" Golovkin and calling him out but Golovkin would be allegedly "scared".

    Fact is:

2014, Golovkin didn't fight Andy Lee due to the 40 days mourning period after his father's death. He was supposed to have a big fight this year though and that's why he signed a contract to fight Chavz Jr. on PPV, on July 19 th.

Chavez Jr. pulled out the last moment:

"There is no update but the point is that I thought that we made a crazy, unbelievable offer to Chavez for the Golovkin fight. It called for the Golovkin fight to pay him a minimum $7 million, and if he lost that fight, we guaranteed him another fight for $5 million. Now if he beat Golovkin, then we would pay him a minimum for his next fight of $10 million," said Arum, whose Top Rank contract runs through October 2015 with Chavez.

"So we would…do these two fights, and the minimum he would make is $12 million, and if he was successful, $17 million plus. He turned that offer down. So we offered him a one-fight offer at considerably less money but still better than what Golovkin accepted for the fight and he turned that down. So obviously, he doesn't want the fight and we go on with our business."

What's the deal now with guys here hyping Chavez Jr.? He had his opportunity, he turned the fight down several times, while Golovkin signed it.

I am not a fanboy. I just want to see good fights. Something that unfortunately does not happen often.

well...there is that too....but the only way an offer actually is on the table is if canelo smokes chavez...any chance Oscar has to make a canelo/chavez 2 will push ggg to at least 2018...and by then someone else might emerge as an opponent

    Definitely.

Poor GGG banking on Canelo for his career defining fight and only mega payday.

Career defining my ass. Canelo vs Jacobs would be a pick 'em at 160.

These fighters are not as naive and uninformed like their predecessors. Fighters nowadays have lawyers and legal professionals overseeing every details of their contract. In case you didn't know, Arum gave Chavez Jr a bull**** contract. The contract Al Haymon gave Chavez Jr is better than what Arum gave him. Go figure.

JCC Jr did't want to be tied down to Arum that's why he pulled out. Arum wanted an extension with options JCC Jr wasn't down with that.

No one is acting like that didn't happen. It was well documented what took place. This isn't 2014 anymore, move one.

So, basically we should stop to judge any fighters because it's always the lawyers and managers who rule in the background?

He was already tied to Arum. And it would have been a better choice than what happened in the following years. The Fonfara fight that didn't make sense from the beginning and drug abuse.

    I agree with the OP

Chavez should have took this offer and Golovkin should have took the Canelo offer.

Too often we miss out the big fights because of politics.
