A prime Joe Louis over 15rds against two of the greatest swarmers the heavyweight division has seen.
Prime versions of Joe Frazier ,and Rocky Marciano.
Which one has the best chance of defeating Louis?

    Two great punchers below.

Both have a great chance of beating him, I think Frazier would get it done quicker though as he was quicker of hand and feet. The flip side to that is Marciano had knockout power in both hands. It would only take one good shot from Rocky to change the course of the fight.

Hard to say. Rock took almost 8 to get rid of an old shop worn Louis but that can be deceiving. Sometimes an older fighter can be in survival mode more often. Younger Louis may beat them both but I would lean towards Frazier because he was a little quicker and a little sharper, shorter with his punches. If Joe can take away the Brown Bomber`s leverage and keep him off balance he has the best chance.

The bobbing and weaving of Frazier may be able to offset Louis`s jab somewhat. He`s not gonna be able to avoid all of them though. I imagine Smokin Joe`s face would be a mess afterwards win or lose. If he doesn`t get stretched early and is able to warm up I think Joe Frazier can take this fight by mid rounds stoppage.

The underlined is a valid point I think it was Marciano's best friend and cornerman ,Allie Colombo who said,"how do they know it would have been different if Louis had been younger,he would have been coming forward not retreating?" "Maybe Rocky would have got him earlier?"

Which ever man took him on it wouldn't be a walk in the park for either. Both men were to a degree slow starters so Louis would be hammering in some blows early on. If as been stated Louis comes forward more against rock then the early rounds will decide it. Either Joe does enough damage to rocks face early and the ref as to step in , or the fight goes on till middle rounds and rocky would eventually stop him in around the tenth. Much the same with frazier. If Louis hurts him early on he'll keep putting frazier down. If the fight goes on frazier gradually wears him down and stops him late rounds.

    I pick Rockista.
He was more multi dimensional than Frazier.
Rocky could brawl on the inside, and he could also employ a counter style from the outside.
Rocky does use some lateral movement. He leans forwards, but also backwards and to the side if he has to adapt.

Frazier strictly come forward, bobbing up and down.
Fraziers style is more specialized than Rockys for outside mobile fighters with a good jab.
But with his one way style, Louis will time him and KO him with an uppercut.
Louis, a far superior puncher, would outpunch him with a dynamic range of punches, angles, and techniques.

Rocky, being much more multi dimensional would be a far more difficult fight for Louis.

I go back and forth on it..Marciano has more power, and it is two handed, against that he is slower and more measured in his attack, plus he had a tendency to cut.I think Marciano is easier to hit with the jab. Frazier lumped up. Neither was effective outside imo. Marciano would give Louis more time and that might be the difference.
I pick Marciano to beat Frazier, but I think Frazier may have the better chance of beating Louis because of his faster speed of hand and foot.

After their fight in October of 1951,trainer Charlie Goldman was asked how Rocky would have done against a younger Joe Louis. Goldman said that fight might have ended sooner. The Reporter asked "sooner?...why?" Goldman said,"Because you don't come at Rocky Marciano!"

Louis undoubtedly would not be backpedalling, and though I favour prime Louis to beat Marciano, Goldman and Allie Colombo do make a valid point.imo

Agree here. Rocky also has the better chin, two-fisted power ( Frazier only had the left hook ) and actually beat an older version of Joe Louis.

Does he have the better chin? Archie Moore dropped him.Bob Foster could not dent Frazier's chin.
    It's open to question imo.

Yes, he does. Frazier was stunned or dropped by lesser puncher than Moore. And Frazier was no stranger to the canvas as an amateur.

Foster lasted how long with Frazier? Not even two full rounds. No long enough to test his chin. Why even mention his name? You might as well say Mike Moorer could not dent Tua's chin either.
