The only man to beat him as an Amateur was Buster Mathis as far as I know. He beat him atleast twice.

Foster landed nothing on Frazier that was hard. Moore landed something on Rocky, and Rocky got up quickly. And unlike Foster, Archie Moore beat decent heavyweights. Foster was not as successful at heavyweight.

But that's academic. Marciano > Frazier in the chin department.

    Based on what?

Frazier has a solid stone of muscle on top of Rocky.

He only got dropped by men above 200 pounds, Rocky got dropped by LHW and CW opposition.

Getting up quickly from a knockdown is not an indication you are not hurt it is often the opposite!
Marciano was badly buzzed against Moore he went towards the ropes expecting an 8 count which had been waived as it was a title fight. Foster landed several good right hands in the 1st rd but they had no effect on Frazier.

Foster ko'd whom at heavyweight? He was not a good fit, and his power was best at 175. I do not think Foster landed any chin checkers in his brief time sharing the ring with Frazier. And Foster had a glass jaw at heavyweight, no questions there.

Moore actually fought and beat heavyweights of note.

Rocky got up quickly. He had his legs and wits. He was not hurt, just caught.

But he wasn't fighting at 175 pounds which is the LHW weight poundage. He was fighting sat 188 which at that time was HW poundage. So it follows that what he threw wasn't a LHW punch but a HW punch. Or are you saying that Moore didn't hit harder at HW than he did at LHW? Now that would be weird!

Who mentioned 175? Your article says it all mate, the doubters can see it for themselves now.

The current LHW champ seated Rock, when the situation was reversed for Frazier he cut through him like a knife through butter.

Thanks for posting a primary source, hopefully they'll see reason now.

He was still pretty green against Bonevena the firs time as well. I believe that was Frazier`s 11th or 12th pro fight. Oscar was a step up in class at that time. I don`t think Eddie Futch had started working with Joe full time yet. He hadn`t perfected that bob and weave that served him so well.

This is contrary to Rocky's own statement in which he said he didn't hear the count and was stunned for a few seconds. If he had his wits why did he walk to the ropes, there was no mandatory 8 count ? Bob Foster was at least on a par for power with Archie Moore, what he lacked was the physique to deal with heavyweights. He was a stringbean who had difficulty adding weight,Moore fought the scales all his career.

Some guy from new jersey had him down 1-2 times and Frazier was also floored in the Oylmpics.
