Now considering this guy does podcasts on boxing, has a twitter handle 'Fight Doctor' (this guy a fight doctor lol) dedicated to boxing, makes numerous ducking threads on GGG, uses infantile language like BUMLOVKIN, lectures posters that they DNSAB, welches on lifetime ban bets & generally lowers the forum to new depths daily then (MODS) i expect this thread fair game for someone who can so readily give it. So let him come & explain this: 2016: Yet in 2014 we have: 2013: So who did WK beat between 2014 & the fight prior to Fury to crown him 'lineal' Champion? LOL Let's now remember you made this statement too: 2016: So let's look. When it was put to you in 2011 that Pascal has the Lineal here's what you said: 2011: 2011: 2009: So if Stevenson is 'Lineal' (which you have stated many times) & 'the man at 175' then tell me which man he beat to become the man? Considering his 'Lineage' is directly traceable back to the Pascal claim you already dismissed! Oh dear.. Finally another example: You where claiming the other day that GGG's MW titles don't matter & he isn't 'the champion' at MW. When it was put to you Hopkins (MW) never beat a 'Lineal' MW champion either you said: Yet if Lineal champions 'cannot be stripped' & can only lose 'the title' via 'retirement or in the ring' (see above quotes) tell me... Exactly WHEN did Hopkins beat James Toney? Note: I am not arguing or having a dig at Hopkins, WK etc I am simply pointing out the flaws & hypocrisies in this guys meanderings. So next time he accuses you of NOT KSAB or labels a fighter a 'Non champion' then throw this back in his face & remind him that he DNSA about even basic concepts like 'LINEAL' & in his hatred of GGG he inadvertently shits on his own heroes... After all you have to 'beat the man to be the man'
Many double standards exist on boxingnewsforum24, every one does this for a fighter they like or don't like. **** Amir Khan.
He also claims Larry Holmes became the lineal champ when he beat Ali(despite the fact that Ali hadn't fought for over two years back then) because The Ring said so, then goes on to deny Wlad ever becoming the lineal champion despite the fact that The Ring started to recognize him as the man after he beat Chagaev.
James Toney moved up to Super Middleweight in 1993, and won a World Title at Super Middleweight. Toney was never able to return to Middleweight as he stayed at SMW then moved up to LHW. A new lineage was not established when his vacant IBF MW title was fought for between Roy Jones Jr and Bernard Hopkins in May of '93, a few months after Toney beat Iran Barkley at SMW. Toney remained Lineal MW Champ but then it was vacated due to Toney not being able to return to Middleweight. Jones Hopkins would have been a good candidate for a new lineage to have been established, but it may not have been clear at that time if Toney was going to continue at SMW, so that didn't happen. In retrospect, you could make the argument that Roy Jones should have became Lineal MW Champion by having won Toney's vacant title vs Hopkins. In that case, it would have been vacated anyway as the next year Jones moved up to Super Middleweight to fight Toney. While Jones and Toney continued at Super Middleweight, Hopkins stayed at Middleweight and fought for the vacant IBF World middleweight title vs Segundo Mercado when Jones moved up to fight Toney. The first fight was a draw and Hopkins won the rematch. Hopkins didn't became Lineal Champ until 2001, probably because well they probably didn't see Hopkins vs Mercado as a big enough of a fight to re-establish a lineage. So it was vacant between 1993 until 2001.
Fair play for the effort put into this thread. You must of had to trawl back through all sorts of nonsense to get these nuggets.
Povetkin. Vitali had retired and the Wlad Povetkin fight was a contest between the #1 and #2 ranked HWs in the world. Thus, a new LINEAL champ was crowned. https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/the-transnational-boxing-rankings.449172/page-32#post-15703921 Erdei moved up and vacated. The winner of Dawson Pascal crowned a new lineal champ @ 175. Stevenson beat Dawson who beat Hopkins who beat Pascal. http://www.cyberboxingzone.com/boxing/pascal-jean.htm Bumlovkin is NOT the champ @ 160. Alvarez is until he loses @ MW, moves up and vacates or retires. Toney moved up to 168 and vacated. That vacancy was filled when Hopkins beat Trinidad. This is all basic arithmetic. Too bad you never made it out of the 1st grade...
This lineal ish dont mean nothing in modern boxing. WBC belt is just one of four. UNDISPUTED is the Royalty of modern boxing and this what we fans should push for and demand >>>>>>More unifications, not cherrypicking the WBC
The problem with your silly logic is you don't have to always beat the lineal champion. Why because fighters retire. So to establish lineage...never mind lmfao.
This thread is utterly spasticated!!! I hate to break this to you, but the Ring Magazine #1 and #2 ranked heavyweights fighting does not make the winner a lineal champ. It may make them The Ring champ (which means naff all in the scheme of things). But it does not make them lineal. Lineage can only be established by unifying all of the four recognised belts. No it didn't. It crowned a new WBC champ. The fight wasn't even for the WBO belt, which Erdei held and vacated. Dawson-Pascal did not crown a linear champ as the winner was not undisputed. Golovkin IS the champ at middleweight. It's as simple as that. He has 3 of the four belts, universally ranked as the best fighter at the weight and by far the best resume at middleweight. There is no other fighter with any reasoned claim to that status whatsoever and to claim otherwise is simply pushing an agenda. Firstly, it is ridiculous to claim that Alvarez has a better claim when he has never actually fought at the weight, based on some abstract concept that has no official status whatsoever. Secondly, if you do give any credence to the lineal champion idea then the title would be vacant since the last middleweight fight in the line was Martinez's win over Martin Murray (sorry, catchweight contests don't count as middleweight is 160). Thirdly, even if anyone did give the idea any credibility, you can't claim Erdei "moved up and vacated" without acknowledging that Alvarez "moved down and vacated" when he handed over the belt and fought Liam Smith for the WBO 154 title. There is only one champion of the world at middleweight, Gennady Gennadyvich Golovkin. No it was filled when Trinidad beat DeLaHoya and hence became undisputed.
So how was lineage established before there were 4 belts? But you say lineage is established by unifying all four recognised belts So Trinidad beating DLH at 147 made him the lineal middleweight champ?
No. You and the OP are utterly spasticated. You're correct. Now go back and re-read my original post. You'll learn that I didn't say one single word about any Ring ratings, Einstein. I said the #1 and #2 rated fighters. Please notice my lack of use for the word "Ring". So, how was lineage established back in Jack Johnson's era - when the WBA/C/O & IBF *did not exist*? No. Bumlovkin is the champion of PAPER. The current Middleweight title lineage goes like this; Vacant--> Hopkins--> Taylor--> Pavlik--> Martinez--> Cotto--> Alvarez No Bumlovkin in the current lineage. I can even quote the previous lineage if necessary. That's nice and all but it doesn't make Bumlovkin champion of anything more than PAPER. Stop smoking the Crack.
