Spence sparring American WBA #4 MW Rob Brant in preparation for his upcoming IBF title clash with Brook.

Interesting that he is sparring 160 fighters, given that Brook is considered a very big welter.

Not seen Brant before, what can people tell me about him and is he good preparation for Brook?

I don't know who Brant is. All I know is Spence needs to beware of that uppercut GGG got.

I know who Brant is and he is a dam good fighter. He started out of St Paul MN and relocated in Texas. He has excellent skills and I think that he will become an elite MW and quite possibly a champion.

Based on what, going life and death with Louis Rose, or was it KOing that bum DeCarlo Perez? Thus far nothing Brant has shown me tells me he's going to amount to anything, he's okay, but nothing special. Antoine Douglas probably schools and KO's him.

Or that perfect 1-2 Brook gave Porter for 36 minutes?

Spence has been stun by less proven hitters. This is the last fight he went the distance in and Cruz was a walking punching bag. I don't like it when fighters arew on a long KO dstreak and not going rounds. It becomes a bad habit the day a guy takes you to the end. (cough, cough Kovalev)

He's really raw, but he has a couple of national championships as an amateur, and beat Thomas Williams and Marcus Browne. I think he's a comer.

You know who else is a very big welter? Errol Spence Jr
I'd like to see some of that sparring though. Good stuff

One factor people need to bare in mind it's that being a southpaw works in your favour against most fighters. Against Brook it doesn't. He's been in with something like 9 southpaws as a pro and he's done a load more sparring with them than orthodox fighters.

Let's say Brooks eye sockets ok, and let's say he's not drained from making weight. Something forum posters seem to know more about than professionals in the field. Then what real weakness is there in Brook for Spence to take advantage of? He's a quality all rounder. Any other welter, yes, I could see Spence doing a number on them. But taking this fight now might end up being the difference between Spence having a great career and taking a physical and mental defeat he fails to recover from.

    Good post bronerruiz

People forget in the ingle gym there is southpaws all over the place. Brook learnt against southpaws from a early age that won't be a issue.

I see this a fight coming down to distance control. Brook is more accomplished longer and mid range. Spence be nowhere if the fight is at this range. Spencer's best chance is inside / close range. But brook can negate that tactic like he did against porter and tie him up and trap his punching arm. And time him coming inside. So maybe I am not seeing it but unless spence brings a improved long and mid range game I see brook points win.

Your on my line of thinking
    I got brook for sure
That uppercut is a thing of beauty
You won't get a more precise 1_2 with power
