Haye's chief sparring partners in prep for the Bellew fight have been Bryant Jennings and Antonio Tarver in Miami.

Thoughts on these guys as preparation?

I actually think Tarver is pretty spot on as he's got a similar style to Bellew.

Tarver is, what? 53 years old? How does sparring with a senior citizen help Haye?

Try 48. Boxers can have longer careers and peak later than footballers, you know this right?

Tarver might have been useful if he wasn't a southpaw.

Horse****. The body doesn't getting any better after 30 years old...it's just a slow decline from that point onwards unless you were a fat unfit mess prior. Boxing is physically one of the toughest if not the toughest sport. You can offset physical decline with skill for only so long.

Boxing is maybe 50% physical, the other is mental strength and experience. Which is why Hopkins at 50 was still world class. Of course decline sets in at some point but Wlad and Lewis peaked around 35 so I don't buy 30 is an automatic down slope, depends on the fighter and weight.

Hate sparring partners are better than Bellew.
