Prime against prime. Does the fast starting Tommy catch Golota cold, or does the bigger, stronger Golota bust Morrison up?

My guess is that a prime Golota could weather the early Morrison attack, then start busting Tommy up for a mid-rounds TKO.

    What do you guys think?

morrison wouldnt attack him, he would try and box IMO. golota could knock him out if he tried to attack too recklessly

Golota is to up right and stiff,he would eat countless hooks vs an aggressive Morrison and fall sooner than later.Slick boxer punchers gave Morrison the most trouble not bigger slower guys . Golota panicks more than Morrison when hes rattled, and does illegal things if he isnt knocked down.Tommy took knees at times regrouped and came back to win fights like against Ruddock and Williams. Morrison is an excellent finisher.

Morrison by 6th rnd k.o in a good slug fest.

Tommy lost to Bentt, Mercer, and Lewis. He drew with Purity. None of them were slick boxer-punchers. Lewis is the only one who had real handspeed.

I think galota if he was mentally prepared, could out last Morrison and start landing crisp combinations repeatedly until Morrison was stopped

Morrison would start out fast throwing hard left s at golata and the early rounds would belong to him. Golata would be defending most of this time and unable to get any thing good in. But mid way he starts getting in some solid combo s and morrison starts to look ragged. A eye closed in the 6th he gets knocked down twice when the ref steps in.

Beyond that, Golota wasn't exactly "slow" in his prime in 1996. He actually had deceptively fast hands.

Another great match up including golota

Golota is the better boxer, more complete, bigger... He would batter Morrison mid rounds ko, unless Morrison goes for the broke in the first few rounds and catches him clean like brewster did....
But again that golota wasn't prime, golota from the bowe fights could easily catch him while Morrison comes in and knock him out. Also had good footwork, lateral movement and angles which would make difficult for Morrison to close the gap ... And golota fights well on the inside

I'm picking golota to box his head off and stop him mid rounds...

Golota from the bowe fights is underrated, a complete fighter

    Aw man, incredible match up!

Either guy could get tagged early and lose their way. I might pick The Duke based on him showing he could win after tasting the canvas. But I'm not convinced.

I'll have to wait this one out until I'm absolutely convinced.

I think Morrison could win this. Other than his impressive (but losing) efforts against a declining Riddick Bowe, who exactly did Golota look so good against? He got blown out by Lewis, blown out by the mediocre Brewster, blown out by an almost shot Tyson, and quit against amateurish Michael Grant. He also had to cheat in order to survive journeyman Samson Po'uha. Don't get me wrong, Golota could catch the less than solid chin of Morrison and stop him. But, Golota is certainly no lock to win this.

Bentt was a slick boxer/ puncher that's how he won.He hit Morrison off the ropes with a counter right. Thats how he trained ,he new Morrison would back him up. he self admitted he was basically knocked out and just threw a punch instinctively thats what he ckliams he was doing in training preperations.

Purity is not a loss. And had a good chin, unless Morrison HIMSELF punched himself out, only then coulld someone like Purrity survive.

Morrison just got tired in the Mercer fight he was winning every round..How is Mercer not a boxer /puncher?

The only guy he struggled with that just stood there actually was Joe Hipp but Morrison hurt his hand in that fight.

Razor Ruddock also gave him trouble and was all around skilled,he was the second best boxer/puncher he had faced.

Guys like Williams and even Yuri Vaulin ( i sparred this guy) gave him troubles before getting hit hard where they were defeatted...they were solid boxers.

Lewis is the only one who had hand speed? Obviously you are not watching some of these fights. and Lewis won because of his 84 inch reach and 6'5 frame...not bc he was fast, Morrison could not adjust to someone that big and skilled.

Golota was not faster than many others he fought. If he took some Ruddock bombs hes going to take Golotas ...they will be slower and less impact on them.Really Golota would be less dangerous in this match up than Foreman bc he didnt have foreman chin ,hence wouldnt have his composure when hit. Golotas stance would be perfect for the Morrison left hook in that open wide guard of his standing squarish. And its not so much the speed but Golota was easy to read ,he was a basic straight lined jabber then the straight right hand,he was repetitive. Thats not the type to defeat Morrison,he would have recognized the combinations Golota would be attempting to land on him.

Lol. You were talking about slick boxer-punchers. Now you're rolling back on that. And Bentt wasn't slick; Bentt was a bum.

Bentt was one of the top amatuer champions of all time and had great boxing basics and smarts. He htrained to fight like a counter puncher against Morrison and he did!

Again go watch the fights i said and learn something.
