He's got an unbelievable chin but he's only British level to be honest. He'll win the British title at some point.
I could definitely see him winning a British title, that's his level for me, clearly a level below guys like Whyte and Chisora but for me he's a level above guys like Lewison, Price and Sexton. Don't think he beats Nick Webb though, he will be the guy to take the British title of Allen after he beats Sexton.
Only thing that is counting against web a little is his age. At 29 I think it is a little against him, for where he is at now. Is he still with Hayemaker?
I personally think Allen is good enough to win a British title, tough, game and if he lets his hands go then he is dangerous at that level. Allen needs a little run of confidence builders, keep himself in the gym, learning and getting good sparring and I see no reason why he couldn't win a British title and defend it a few times. After that, it's an ask, but then it all depends who is holding the European title.
He's down to box David Howe on Saturday, probably his best opponent after Ortiz and Whyte, we'll know more about his British title potential after that. Wouldn't surprise me if he lost actually.
It's all about his personality in this. Easily marketable and able to get a fan base without being at the very highest level. Exactly the sort of value for money fighters eddie wants to put on a AJ/Brook/DeGale ppv undercard.
I agree. Iron chinned Allen seems like a great guy, he should just continue crushing journeymen and British level guys until he's offered an opportunity at the British title. Should he win that he can make some decent cash defending it, or use it as a platform to campaign for bigger fights.
I think a lot are forgetting the fact he's only had 13 fights & has already evidently learnt from his time in with Whyte. He's in a weak domestic division (apart from top 5) and has major time on his hands, a young kid! Who has somet that hardly any top fighter has shown, a will to mix with anyone! He is learning on the job, similar to eggington - but in a weaker division where opportunities will come along by the bucket load. European level at the least.
I think he will beat Sexton. Not sure about Lewison though, scary power but can only fight for 4 rounds. Allen does have a great chin but I don't want to see him take loads of shots from a puncher like Lewison at his young age. Lewison is actually fighting next month against a guy who's 2-9 lol.
Yeah I think he'll beat Sexton or Cornish easy. Lewison is talented, but is fat and doesn't have much left after a couple of rounds. Might not be good for his health, but favor Allen in a 10-12 rounder for that reason.
i think allen is going to become one of those guys that everyone loves. he'll be featured on a lot of the matchroom undercards. I cant see him ever getting a mega fight for a title though. he'll be like another tommy coyle. Everyone loves seeing the guy fight and loves him. but realize he's never going to do anything amazing. but get everyones respect either way
