of course much better than your crap saying " foreman is overrated he only did beat Frazier and Norton"
Why, what's acceptable result against a reigning world champion who after his prime could go the distance with Lewis and could chase the tired Lennox ?
Thanks dude! My buddy uses this system when people claim Tyson fought less than stellar opposition. I'm not saying it's the end all be all factor when ranking greatness but it's another way of looking at heavyweight ATG's competition.
Yes he beat those 2. Im still waiting for the list of top guys he beat who were anywhere near their prime in the rest of his careers put together, to justify why you think he's so great. I gave you ONE ( Moorer). Im still waiting for your list ? One title he would win is this " Which so called ATG was dumped on his arse and totally exposed the most times by different fighters during his peak". = Foreman
Good post. Re - Tucker, that was a strange fight , would love to know the truth about Tony's hand. Tucker looked like he boxed within himself. Funny at the end of the fight , Tucker tells Tyson not to worry , he will grant him a rematch, Kevin Rooney hears this and says almost increduously " F*#k you, you really think you Won ??!!"
He'll never reach his full potential because even back in his very time throughout the 80's , Rooney said Mike had tendencies to ignore what he was told to do, but he's always there in the corner to remind him what they did in training. Maybe part of that because of he's still a kid, its hard to believe sometimes that he's only 20-24 years old during his championship days. Off course he has natural ability and otherworld strength for such a small heavyweight but if you watch some of his mid 80's fight like against Tucker and Green, he seems to lack focus and at some point dropping his hands trying to toy with them instead of throwing more combination. Another example was against Pinklon Thomas, he's lacking inside combination until Rooney told him in the end of 4th round that he needs to throw combination with bad intention and throws more body shots, and that exactly what he did in 5th round.
If he broke his own hand during the fight, then its not an excuse. Its like saying this or that guy had a cuts so he lost. If the cuts came during the fight, then how's it an excuse?
It's a sign of his performance though is it not? You must be an empty head if you think a fighter can perform at his best with a broken hand.
We saw how great he was until he messed it all up for himself and outside forces didn't help either. He could definitely have held the title much longer whilst adding greater names to his resume, shame really. In four years between 88 and 92 he literally went from went hero to zero. It's really crazy when you think about it.
If you punch someone and broke your own hand and then losing the fight, that mean your opponent never really beat you? what a joke
Of course he beat him but let's not pretend it was a fighting fit Tucker he beat, apparently Tucker did it before their fight anyway.
I agree with that. I just think "cleaning out the division" is overhyping it. He dominated the division for 3 years, but cleaning out is a different matter. Logically, to clean out a division you can't be going 0-1 against anyone of that same era.
