Haye and Bellew are poor...

They are anything but poor. They once again conned the British public for a PPV domestic nothing fight, and even boxfans appear to be excited for it.
Money will be rolling in

 

This is really Haye's first fight back. The other two got huge audiences on a channel not many people 'just have on' and so people who were watching it searched it out. Like it or not he's still a big name in british boxing.

So i get why its a big deal even if it is a 'freak' fight

 

This is the kind of thing Haye's been doing for years, remember the Fraudley PPV lol.

Big Saturday night fights are events as much as they are sporting contests.

 

You've got it quite wrong, David Haye was supplying a much in demand community service punching Audley Harrison, people were happy to pay good money for that.

Incidentally surely no one is suggesting Tony is worse than Audley Harrison, they don't have measuring equipment to fathom how crap he was.

 

It's certainly a 'nothing' fight, and most people are saying it's a mismatch and won't be competitive at all.
So, yeah, what's the point ? What's the attraction ?

The only remotely meaningful thing that could happen is if Bellew scores an upset.
But even that wouldn't mean much. Bellew beating Haye would only underline the fact that Haye wasn't/isn't a proper heavyweight contender any more. While it would be good for Bellew's profile, it wouldn't do anything much else for him. He'd still be a second-rate cruiser titlist and has no future at HW.
And it's unlikely anyway.

It's a weird one.
Something like Haye v D.Whyte would make much more sense.

 

I'd really like to see Whyte vs Haye actually, that would be a much better indication of where Haye is at.

 

Lots of people, including plenty of grown men, pay PPV for WWE wrestling events.

What we have here is a boxing / WWE hybrid. The event has been manufactured using the build-up and a 'feud' rather than anything to do with competitive, professional boxing. Nobody on either camp is even pretending otherwise.

 

I'll watch it afterwards but am not buying it, the hype had me tempted with Haye going postal but the reality is in front of everyone's eyes. Been burned before by this type of thing, so personally I have had enough of it.

Its unbelievable they get away with charging ppv for this kind of fight. Times have changed with people willing to pay out for these pantomimes, all we need is Bruno dressed as Aladdin to walk Haye in. At least Franks PPV you got more than you monies worth.
