Hard to tell since he seemed much lighter in weight and he didn't clown around as much as he usually did when he fought Mayweather.
Is the mares agbeko fight with the horrible ref an example of corruption or could you just write that off as the ref just having a bad day the office?
When thinking of clear and evident corruption, the shameful treatment reserved to Eder Gonzalez in the Coggi bout always comes to my mind.
In december 94 Danish lightwelter Racheed Lawall had his last fight. In 96 he was stabbed to death, In early 97 he became mandatory challenger for the wbf lightwelterweight championship.....
Duran vs Bizzaro around 1975 in Erie Pa. Promoter Don Elbaum had a huge ring to benefit Bizzaro and he reportedly told Lou to last the distance and they were gonna win the title. Bizzaro ran around the ring for about 12 rounds. It looked like the ref might have been in on it because he almost let Bizzaro get killed in there allowed the fight to continue.
I actually thought bizarro died at first when duran dropped that last right hand on him. he just collapsed
How about the run of Paulie Ayala: Bredahl, Tapia, Dianzo, and Adam. Four gift decisions of varying degree in a row. It was ridiculous (and doesnt even include the first Tapia fight which I also felt he lost). All delivered with a bow on top by Bob Arum. The Dianzo fight was a horrible robbery.
Vicious ending to that fight. I literally thought he might have killed him. The ref did seem to be in on something or was sadistic towards Bizzaro. That fight should've been stopped way earlier. Even look at the 2nd KD, he counts SUPER SLOW... Bizzaro didn't get up till like a 13 or 14 count. Shoot, he was even counting him out on the last KD, as if the fight shouldn't have been stopped right away
Legend has it that Ray Arcel was doing his pre fight walk through with Elbaum and saw the ring and without blinking turned to him and said "I thought you had class!"
