The meldonium level in the first test was within WADA limits, no? I would say the one year ban confirms that, which will help with the appeal on Deonkey Haymon case.

    Read the WBC's ruling.

The WADA limits were for amounts if taken before the Jan. 1 ban.

The WBC said if the court in New York issued a judgment (after all the scientific evidence and experts was put before a jury) that Povetkin took meldonium after the Jan. 1 ban went into effect, that the WBC would consider him to have failed that test.

(The jury needed less than 30 minutes of deliberation to come to this conclusion.)

In this announcement, they specifically referred back to that and ruled that he did fail the test.

Whatever you, I or anyone else thinks about the failed meldonium test, the WBC affirms that it considers that to be a failed test. It said so today.

So he should be punished as a two-time offender.

This is a wrist-slap at most.

Not even close to being severe enough punishment. PEDvetkin is a disgrace to boxing.

The guy is a disgrace, I am glad he hasn't been punished but he seriously deserves much worse, he could have killed someone.

To put it bluntly, I don't trust that the WBC is on the up and up. The way they're running this has a sour taste that reminds me of the bribe scandal of the IBF back in the '90's.

The WBC claims to handle all the testing costs in house with no extra costs to fighters, managers, or promoters. That seems too good to be true on the surface, especially when they hand out lax punishments when there is a positive test (as long as the fines get paid). Why would you fund a toothless program at your own cost? Povetkin gets a year and a fine? Stiverne gets it wiped away completely and rewarded with a title shot? Bute got a retroactive 6 month suspension as long as he paid up $50k? Something ain't right here.

I find it awfully convenient that the chips fell in such a way that Don King's guy got straight to mandatory status based off of a debatable victory of Rossy, a positive test, and nothing more, and Povetkin can repeat the whole damn cycle next year. Heck, he can just buy a stay-busy fight or two in the meantime off some schmuck (without WBC sanctioning) desperate for the payday, and it'll be like it never even happened.

I believe the whole situation is set up by Don King, especially after recent decision of WBC for Wilder Stiverne fight and how Wilder is protected. The results are clear: Wilder, the last valuable asset of Don King is protected, he keeps on fighting bums and keeps raising his value as an American champ and might even fight Joshua where he will earn money and after that can continue fighting bums still making money; Don King won money in court, Don King protected Wilder for at least a year from Povetkin and finally Don King had revenge for Jones.

First of all in regards in meldonium, it hasn't been scientifically proven to have an effect moreover western analogue of it still allowed for usage. WADA f#%d it up in the same manner as they did with McLaren's report. There is just no evidence. But hey one side gets TUEs for heavy drugs and the other is banned without evidence...

Then no way in the world you can prove that Povetkin was taking meldonium after the ban, especially taking into consideration the the amount of meldonium. The other fishy thing is that meldonium was found in first and all other samples, but VADA started looking for it and announced it just straight before the fight so there couldn't be much done and Wilder could safely return home without fighting Povetkin.

The situation with Ostarin looked the same as with meldnium, again small amount, again some tests were clear and again it was announced straight before the fight. Coincidence? No way I would believe in it after the fight Wilder and Stiverne was announced.

But then again that's just my opinion...

Potvekin looks in the greatest shape he's ever been past his prime for a average male, let alone a pro athlete, and people still question if he's on the juice?

He's displayed power and stamina that was never there to begin with while in his prime and against much weaker opposition

Wilder is not a King fighter. Never has been. He was with Golden Boy and left when Schaefer moved on and is an Al Haymon fighter.

    Which completely blows your theory.

Exactly. He cheated and has been punished accordingly. I don't see the usual suspects in this thread and elsewhere ever saying that Ortiz and Teper weren't punished harshly enough, and those guys tested positive for ANABOLIC STEROIDS, Teper was also found to be in possession of all sorts of illegal substances after a raid on his residence. It's laughable when these guys pretend to be consistent and fair across the board, there are definitely posters on here who will condemn all drug cheats, these Wilder fanboys aren't among them.

    Great

Now we can prepare ourselves for the Washington then Molina rematches, after he slides past Stiverne again, whom btw was being outboxed badly by Burrito Arreola before he kod him.

    Yay

VADA and the WBC framed Povetkin to protect Wilder. Wilder has had 5 voluntary title defenses in a row, a record! Next Wilder will defend against over-the-hill Stiverne, who is now a wino from the alley and never was a contender at all!

I dunno if Wilder wants a second taste of Washington. What if the dude actually trains this time? :eeek:

Then again, there's nothing that springing a 2 day camp can't solve.
