Lol yeah it did have you not been paying attention to people calling him a coward and the slander he gets in Mexico? Bro they are embarrassed for that man. It's ugly. Yeah Golovkin isn't Canelo's only big money matchup, but he is the biggest. Same applies for Golovkin though. That 15 m deal? Golovkin can make that in 3 fights tops and he's very active. The only problem is his age so we're not sure when he's going to be on the decline. That also adds an incentive to Canelo though since once Golovkin loses that money is pretty much gone. The biggest problem with this fight though is the risk of Canelo losing or worse getting damaged by Golovkin while Canelo is pretty much Golden Boy's only money earner right now. If that Haymon lawsuit went through I imagine things wouldn't be as bad, but with that into consideration it may be in Canelo's team's favor to not take this fight at all.
people calling him a coward? you mean the same 25 guys here at ESB...lol.....his popularity hasnt dipped....its more like wishful thinking from golovturds....its typical of them...they are delusional and start thinking golovkin has that kind of influence.....
golovkin had to go on the road, against a WW, to make 5 mil.....he'd have to go to UK and fight eubank and saunders to make 10 mil
Oh for sure something will always pop up no doubt but I think what folk mean is that the fights have to have some meaning with something on the line, this fight is to see who the best in Mexico is but after he's gonna want to be world champ, remeber how he felt when he won the wbc belt,I don't think that's lost on him as money wise he's made for life
I mean everywhere on social media and especially in Mexico. They literally have signs about him calling him out on his bull**** and taunt him when he goes to bars to watch fights. This has been documented. It's pretty bad out there for him. A lot of it has to do with the culture. You can't be the face of mexican boxing and be seen as a coward. They aren't built like that. Way too much pride as a people.
ya...but i think thats common folk thinking.....once u touch 50 mil...you want 100 mil..once you touch 100 mil you want 200 mil....and then a half a bil.....money does weird things to people....belts do not really matter to someone like canelo in the long run
Growing fanbase + PPV percentage. 3 fights max. And of course he had to go on the road he's from ****ing Kaz; everything to him is on the road. Also boxing is bigger in the UK than it is in America right now so naturally he made more there fighting a UK guy.
sure...theres a segment of the population probably not pleased...still willing to bet those same people will tune in and not turn their backs completely...and even without him theres enough of a fanbase to churn out a heck of a living like i said....you have to put things into perspective...the kid is 26 and still has no fights at the full 160 limit...hes a kid thats steadily moved from 147....he shouldnt be penalized for not being at the stage of his career where hes fully ready to take on a career MW that everyone claims is some great beast.... look at what guys like spence and charlo are doing at canelos age
I cant believe that cause even the sports biggest earner understood the importance of the history and the belts that he still shows off, moneys fine and all but these guys are driven from an early age to be world champ and ultimately its how they are judged, not sure why Mayweather gets so much hate cause every fight seemed to be for big dollars and titles
I was at the Dominic Wade fight and let me tell you the forum was PACKED to the gills. I was at that venue for Bhops last fight and there was a dramatic difference in crowds. GGG Wade included massive lines for the restroom. The top rows were jammed with people.
floyd was very tied to the history of the sport....the same way a guy like peyton manning was tied to the history of football.....others like aaron rodgers and brady, while respectful in their own right, arent as concerned with past generations......i dont think canelo ignores it or doesnt care....but if he dumps a belt for a year or two i dont think hes going to lose sleep over it
THIS post right here is why I never really went hard on Canelo. Yea it would have been great to see that fight back in Sept 2016 but most of us boxing fans knew that GGG would be too much for him. To think that Canelo had a tough fight with Cotto, I dont think Cotto would last 6 with GGG. That right there tells you alot about the match up back in 2015 or 2016. Sept 2017 I think Canelos odds get slightly better. 2018 and beyond it starts turning into Canelos game. That 8 year age gap is the biggest reason we wont ever see either fighter at their best when they eventually do fight.
The women out here in San Diego don't give a **** about any of that **** they LOVE Canelo. The broads at Dominoes Pizza were clocking out early to go and watch Canelo when I was ordering for the Liam Smith fight. Maybe in Mexico they might give him a hard time but he fights in the United States and those kids don't care what Mexico thinks about him.
Here's the real deal. GBP has an valid offer in front of K2 for Canelo-Golovkin. ODLH says there will be no more money to Golovkin so take the deal or leave it. K2 believes that Canelo needs Golovkin to make a big money fight, but Chavez-Canelo is the big fight in town and if K2 keeps being greedy, they may find themselves losing again to Canelo-Chavez II.
