Looking into this myself it doesn't look like Korobov ever beat Golovkin which I think he would have mentioned before if he had. Maybe I was thinking Dirrel this whole time, but I don't see why I would ever get the two of them confused.
Because of their career trajectories I doubt we ever get this one but if it did happen I can't see anything other than a Golovkin stoppage, whether that be early, middle or late. I am really high on Jermall though ( gives of that bad motherfcker vibe ) and expect him to settle in at 160 in style, keep improving and keep KOing and strap up in the future. ( most likely after GGG moves up )
I I think Charlo will be a top tier MW however I think there is a large seperation between GGG and everyone else.
Jermall is still evolving as a fighter. He still has a lot he can improve on from a defensive standpoint. He also needs to learn how to better use his height and reach advantages when fighting from a distance. As far as him vs Gennady, I think he needs to first take on a couple guys at MW and test himself (and his chin) against their power. Jermall had excellent power at JMW, let's see how his power carries up with him.
Would be a better win than Golovkins' over Brook. And there are some people out there who rank that as Golovkins' best or second best ever victory. Soooo... As stated above, he's yet to fight as a MW so lets give it some time. But as I said, even without impressive wins there, he would be a quality scalp for any MW to scoop up.
Before the fight is made: "Charlo would be GGG's first real challenge. GGG is ducking him." After the fight is made: "Charlo is not that good/Charlo is a bum".
Charlo definitely has the talent and size. I'd go out on a limb and say that if there is minimal drug testing for the bout, like with the Williams fight, I like Charlo's chances.
gggs own people were bagging jacobs when they thought jacobs was ducking over money "oh man he dont deserve no money he dont sell...he aint got no fans...awww man that dude got sent to the canvas against sergio mora LOLOL" if charlo adjusts well to 160 in the next year he def would be a problem for golovkin by then....
Hard to say, if someone will beat G, it will be someone young and hungry, so hope this fight happens.
Charlo wold be a test For Golovkin....No one at Middleweight is a danger at the moment..has to be someone moving up I think...
Not sure why but I have a fascination when someone who's really good or hyped gets dethroned. I love GGG but if Jermall fought him and won it would be awesome to see.
I think they only fought each other once but I can't say so with any great certainty. They definitely didn't meet in the Olympics though. Korobov beat Gaydarbekov in the Russian nationals in 2004 but they decided to send Gaydarbekov instead. Gaydarbekov obviously went onto beat GGG in the 2004 Olympic final. Had they sent Korobov instead he very likely would've met GGG in the final IMO. Korobov lost to GGG's countryman Artayev in the 2008 Olympics. It was the 2003 World Amatuer Championships where they fought each other. I found this. Korobov on Golovkin: I've Waited a Long Time For This Opportunity By Vadim Pushkin Last week, *******.com first reported that Cameron Dunkin, manager for Matt Korobov (25-1), had approached with an offer for his fighter to face WBA/IBF/IBO/WBC interim middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (34-0) on April 23rd. Korobov was a star in the amateur boxing system. He beat a lot of top talent in his amateur run - like Daniel Jacobs, Oleksandr Usyk, Sergiy Derevyanchenko, Alfonso Blanco, Jarrod Fletcher, Darren Sutherland, Ismail Syllakh. The one man he didn't beat in the amateurs was Golovkin, who beat Korobov in the 2003 world amateur championships in Bangkok. Korobov has long said that he wants to get revenge for the defeat. And Korobov doesn't mention anything about beating GGG in this interview This content is protected
Maybe you were thinking of Korobov vs Kovalev? I knew Korobov beat Kovalev but someone on here a while back posted a vid of another one of their meetings which Kovalev won.
