I don't think it was entirely the injury that beat Haye, it was the inactivity. You can't go into a fight against a good opponent after 5 years out and expect to blow them out as if you had never been away at all. Bellew fought a smart fight and I think there would have been some twists and turns whether the injury happened or not. Bellew is a different animal at the higher weights, people need to give him respect now. People also need to give Haye respect now that he isn't some part-time celebrity wannabe and has the heart of a fighter. He won fans tonight no doubt.
Damn Haye was winning and then lost to Bellew. A spade is a spade ALT. I respect both but the fight was a farce. A shameful cherry gon wrong lmao.
So you didn't even watch the fight but are commenting to defend your boy Wilder? lol. I had the fight 2-2 after 4 rounds, it was edge of your seat stuff. Wilder has never been in a real fight like that and probably never will because he won't fight a Haye or a Bellew.
So many people were overrating Haye based on what he had done in the past and the uncertainty about whether he could still do it. Personally I think all of Parker, Joshua and Wilder would have been apprehensive about the fight before tonight just because of that uncertainty alone. Tonight showed his current level though; even before the injury he looked awful. Good on Bellew for beating him but lets not get carried away. A career LHW bloating up to fight a super-heavyweight with killer power like Wilder would only have one outcome.
Back pedalling whilst throwing the odd arm punch didn't really impress me. I still think he gets iced by Usyk and co or any of the other heavyweights he's talking about taking on. For me, the fight would have been a comprehensive victory barring the leg injury which changed the complexion of the entire fight. A great night for Tony but my opinion of him hasn't massively changed.
Wilder would knock out Bellew and ricky Conlan if they were both in the ring at the same time against wilder
So are people going to give Wilder credit if he fights Bellew? Or are they going to say he beat a cruiser up whose best was was an injured shot Haye. I remember before the Stiverne fight he was supposed to get "killed". Now Stiverne is a bum.
