Haye went into the fight with achilles injury

    Haye said this before this fight, it sounded like he was joking but it turned out to be true, at least the part about achilles tendon. It looks like he had achilles tendonitis (sore achilles). You can still move and all that but it hurts and it increases the chances of achilles rupture which is what happened to Haye in the fight.

    I've never been a fan of Haye or making excuses but this injury completely limited him. I had achilles tendonitis and I could barely walk, never mind box. It's impossible to put any power into your punches since you can't transfer the weight properly. You can't use any proper footwork either since you can't stand/move on the tip of your toes.

    On the contrary, I said many times he was always overhyped.

    I'm just pointing out the truth and what happened. He had a real injury during the fight which was caused by going into the fight with a sore achilles which was probably partly tore already.

    I never made a call on this fight. Haye being inactive was the big question mark. But could Bellew take the power? Those questions were answered. That injury really helped Tony out

    Haye was probably still confident enough that he can take out Bellew early enough before the injuries get any worse.

    yeah that sounds about right.
    Thats the beauty of boxing. ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN
    I recall many posters saying Haye by murder.

    I wonder what this fight tells us about the upcoming AJ Klitchko fight. Wlad has been inactive since the Fury fight and he's over 40 years old.

    Here's the thing, if the toe thing hadn't happened vs Wlad, most people wouldn't question this injury. The problem was is that the broken toe vs Wlad really changed the way a lot of people view Haye, so this was very much "here we go again" with Haye.

    Remember the Martin - Glazkov fight.

    You never know what kind of injuries these guys carry in the ring. They're athletes who train hard all their life and at the end of the day they only fight 2-3 times a year max so it's hard to pull out.

    They're at least slightly injured going into fights more often than not.

    With the type of training and the stress their bodies go through who knows when something might just pop. If it can happen during training it can happen during the fight as well.

    Yeah but this time you can't say that the injury wasn't real. Just watch the right foot of Haye from round 6 on. He had it planted and had all of his weight on the heel. No boxer would have stood like that unless the achilles was ruptured.

    Injury or not Bellew was the better man on the night, even Haye didn't use the injury as an excuse. He took Haye's best shots and kept coming at him and I won't accept any of this injury excuse talk Bellew executed his game plan to take Haye out late and did it perfectly

    True, but I don't think anyone really thought the toe injury was fake. Remember he took off his boot after the Wlad fight and shown everyone. But I agree this was a more serious injury than the toe, I just think the toe was causing him pain everytime he tried to plant. I wonder if this injury is related to the toe. Sounds hard to fathom but you never know. I mean with the toe he must have tried to plant on the heel more which could have injured the achilles. It may even be a mental thing, like even after the toe healed he may have been trying to over compensate.

    Just goes to show what a SCAMMER Haye is: He went into the Wlad fight with a toe injury, went into Bellew with Achilles injury. He's defrauding PPV viewers paying good money for a fight by coming in at 50% physically.

    Between ducking Vitali and 2 x Fury and these injury PPV rip-offs he's the biggest scam artist in HW boxing.

    Clearly Haye was limited by the injury. Why did they decide to go forward with the fight is my question? They didn't seem to show an ounce of respect to Bellow, which is entirely unprofessional, regardless of the cometition. They seem to have paid for it.
