Haye should take on Arreola (said it for years now), regain some confidence, and then go for the loser of Wlad/AJ or Wilder. Bellew MUST defend that strap of his. He's earned his money, defend against a top boy down at Cruiser. Thoughts??
I can see a rematch to be honest. Bellew isn't going to get full credit from the masses because of the injury... and the fight generates money. Personally I'd like to see Haye call it a day, he looks great but his body is breaking down.. all those long hard training camps have taken it's toll. Bellew should drop back down to CW and look to unify the division.
I think Haye is done, kind of feel for him going out like that but I guess he paid the price by going for a money grab fight when he clearly wasn't fit enough to fight. In an ideal world Bellew would go back to cruiserweight, a division in which he is a legit top 5 fighter & fight the other top guys there. Unfortunately he will most likely follow the money & get paid one last big payday by taking a beating by either Wilder or Parker.
I felt for Haye last night. I don't like to see a formerly great fighter getting knocked out the ring like that. It was sad to watch it. Think he should probably call it a day. Bellew will go where the money is. I'd like to see him fight a top heavyweight just out of sheer curiosity really.
Do you really think he could hang with guys like AJ, Wilder or Parker? Surely they are too big & strong for Bellow, even if Bellows chin is good enough to get him through the first half of the fight he would soon gas out and be a sitting target.
Bellew could wait for the Briggs vs Oquendo winner (if he can survive first round, Oquendo takes that) Just imagine; Oquendo vs Bellew - WBA 'Regular' Heavyweight Title at Goodison.
I don't think that would be a PPV fight even if Hearn tries to flog it as a legit title, only a big heavyweight name could make it PPV, possibly even Briggs just because he can promote a fight and has already made something of a name for himself over here.
I know I was taking the p*ss mate, but it's bizarre that it's even possible. Oquendo's prime was 14 years ago and Bellew was a lightheavy a couple of years back.
Easy. I'm sure he says he walks around at over 16 stone inbetween fights. Heard him say he was losing something like over 30lbs to make light heavy not that long ago so im sure cruiser would be a breeze.
I don't think Haye will return, he is 36 years old, he retired because injuries were getting the better of him and if this achilles injury is as bad as it seems that's a serious amount of rehab, he could be looking at a very long lay off. Bellew can get another big money fight at heavyweight, I don't think he'll return to cruiserweight now, he wants that heavyweight PPV money and I don't blame him.
