Haye released from hospital with no surgery required for achilles injury.

So just how bad was the injury that it required no surgery?

You don't need a surgery for a sore achilles / achilles tendonitis / partial tear, but it increases the chances of rupture which is what happened during the fight.

if it wasnt for the toe thing he would have got away with being pulled out in round 6 and not suffer too much damage to his reputation. toegate really ****ed him and he lost the trust of the fans, plus pulling out of the Fury fight. the sad thing is its likely his body fell apart years ago in boxing terms.

Bellew excellent display of dodging Hayes incoming volleys led to the injury

He needed the money. I would risk aggravating that injury too for that kind of money. Kind of reminds me of Martinez vs Cotto. Sergio had no legs at all.

Haye just lucked out that Bellew has an iron chin. Haye landed with such bone crushing force that the impact resonated through his body causing the weakest point to give i.e. tendons my good man

Bad enough to make him stumble around like an alcoholic who has just pounded case after case of special brew.

Well if he knew that his achilles was on the fritz he should have taped it up for stability. That's a mistake that cost him dearly against a guy who took his shot better than he or anybody thought.

Yes!! Plus those wild swings can't have done it any good. When you have an injury, straight punches and one-twos are the way to go, Haye still had the tools to win by fighting disciplined despite his issues.

I agree. Haye fought like an idiot. If he would have just boxed and set up his punches correctly maybe he would have got the KO. who knows.

Yes, the more I think of it, that first round from Haye goes into "Idiot moment of the Year" contention.

I've never seen him look so idiotic before in a big fight. Lol.. he was all over the place and missing wildly that first round.
