No i dont think its a duck. It might be dumb, greedy, fair, unfair and more than anything a chance missed but i really dont see it as a duck. Personally i think he needs to be offered percentages cuz 15 million could be good, 15 million could be really low as a percentage.

I keep hearing the 15mil number, but has that offer ever been confirmed by ggg, or are we just supposed to take Oscar's word for it?

Did GBP set a deadline to accept? If they didn't, then there's no duck idiot. Both guys have fights on the horizon.

    Realistically:

    1) The pure numbers by themselves are meaningless, if you're looking at a $100m fight then obviously the world middleweight champion isn't going to allow a mere contender to receive an 85% split, regardless of how big a name he is. Only GBP and K2 will have an idea of how much they think this fight can make.

    2) There's no reason why Canelo should get a title shot just because he's Canelo and it is not ducking if GGG won't agree to the fight on Canelo's terms. GGG would actually be perfectly within his rights to tell him to go and beat a Lemieux or someone to prove he deserves a title shot and then they'll talk.

Did Pac duck Fluid by not taking the 40mil flat fee?

The latest is that both sides are close to financial agreement (Both GBP president Gomez and K2's Loeffler said so over the weekend).

They are just waiting to see how things develop + GGG and Canelo need to get past Jacobs and Chavez Jr, both of whom have some chance of pulling the upset. In the case of Canelo, it needs to be a convincing victory too or ODLH already said that the rematch takes priority. So, as you see, there are a lot of clauses to work out and it seems to me that the $15 million offer is likely only a preliminary financial agreement, or contains some exemptions which depend on fights between now and September. Otherwise if GGG signed now, Canelo couldn't rematch Chavez Jr even if it was a controversial fight.

Hence .... my advice is to be patient, and to be honest we don't need yet another thread on this.

At what point does it become a duck? Not that I think he is, just think there's a clear double standard.

What would be the double standard? It should be noted, the thread saying "3G turned down...." isn't even accurate, nor backed up by anything. Posters here are saying he declined the 15 mill simply because he has not signed a contract yet. Neither side is signing a contract for a while now. GBP knows they can, if wanted to, milk canelo v. chavez jr for possibly two fights, depending on how close the final score card is. However, the mere fact that GBP continues to talk w/ K2 about the fight should tell some there wasn't a 'decline' of the offer.

But if someone has more proof, or a source, that would certainly change things.

No, but turning down 15 million to fight Alvarez would be a mistake in my opinion. I just don't see this fight generating huge ppv numbers.

Every single person on this thread wants Golovkin to accept the deal but whether he does or not remains to be seen.

And most seem to overlook the fact that Canelo tries to buy his way into the title fight and wants to get best part of the pie as well.
