I can see why you'd pick those superheavies against Ali, I suspect the majority here would disagree with Bowe and maybe even the others too, but it's a reasonable opinion and one can make the case.

The reason this thread has attracted so much heat is the number of wild assertions made by the AJ camp, and the way they assume that AJ is already in the category of great SHWs like the names you mentioned.

I'd strongly favour Ali over Vitali(my 2nd favourite fighter of all times), and over Bowe as well, given how much success Holyfield and Golota(two guys with similar height and reach to Ali) had against him boxing from the outside. Wlad has the tools but Ali's mental strength would be too much for him. Ali vs Lewis is the most interesting one and hardest to predict among those.

Bowe from Golota fights is not the best version and in Holyfield2 his tactics have been criticised and a guy flew into the ring, half hour riot etc BUT Bowe at his best vs peak Ali would you still favour Ali?
Why Ali over Vitali too if you care to explain?

In all 3 of the fights, Holyfield had his best moments(or at least looked most comfortable in the ring) when he boxed from the outside, when he tried to jab and use movement. He was faded against Golota(and badly faded in the rematch), but still he looked too confused and baffled against a good jab. I just don't think he'd fare well against someone who had great movement in addition to a great jab.

Remember his fight with Byrd and certain points of his fights with Donald and Gomez, Vitali hated speed and movement. Even the 1st round of the Hide fight, he was getting tagged and was struggling with his speed. His jab wasn't as good as Lewis' or his brother's and didn't have the same command of range. I see Ali easily getting inside to land his pitty pats, than moving out, forcing Vitali to come forward, making him miss, frustrating him and cruising to a wide UD victory.

When Ali fought Henry Cooper for the first time he had a 26 pound weight advantage over him(Cooper admired to lead weighting his boots in weigh in). Henry Cooper 40-14 bum with a pathetic 49% KO rate. In spite of his tiny size, and lack of much punching power Cooper would of KO'ed Ali if Ali never fell on to the ropes, but instead fell on to the canvas which would of clearly knocked him out cold. Dundee illegally guided Ali back to his corner, and illegally gave Ali smelling salts, and broke the rules to prevent Ali getting stopped, also Dundee admits to opening a hole in Ali's glove to give him more time to recover, people at the fight say Ali had 3 minutes to rest between the round, and the film footage has been edited. Either way this more than proves Ali's lack of a good chin, and vulnerability ever single time Joshua even touches him with a punch. Let's not forget despite the myths Ali was hit in every single fight, against far leases opponents than Joshua.

Sorry JamesSmith but after reading your opinion that Pac beat Mayweather in another thread I have to assume everything you say is a joke.

So Hide winning a single round, before getting smashed out in the second his proof Ali would beat Vitali. What makes that example even more stupid is Hide could barely lay a glove on Vitali in the second round, and was losing the round before he was stopped.

Ali couldn't even win the first 4 rounds against 190 ( cruiserweight) Mildenberger despite what Cossell had T.V viewers believing .You didnt even need Cossell to count the missed Ali punches all the time,it was like you watched a different fight when you hit the mute button on his fights. now here we go...Vitali loses to Ali too? :rolleye:

I only mentioned that as a contributing factor, and specificly Said only the first round you moron. Indeed in the first round Hide was putting leather on Vitali without getting hit with his vastly inferior movement to Ali, the difference is Hide had no idea how to move out of the range after landing his shots, and wasn't the 1\10 boxer that Ali was.

Probably correct, I put it there simply as an example of a big size disparity.
Having said that I believe Williard was favourite to win the fight.

Now I would be less confident of Ali beating Lewis, but Lewis achieved and proved himself.

So the heat didn't effect Ali?

You using a single round of a fight Vitali won a second round KO in is moronic. Vitali lost 9 rounds during his career, Ali lost well over a 100. We don't need to use a single round to see which fighter is the better boxer. The difference between Vitali losing 9 rounds and Ali losing well over a 100 is clear enough evidence to which one was the better boxer.

Vitali outboxed small fast boxers like Ali. Ali never even seen a boxer anything like Vitali. People need to use a little common sense.

and it was far from a "prime" Ali.
