Agreed. Joe Frazier and Evander Holyfield are both very hard to place for me. And to be clear my heavyweight top ten changes pretty frequently. Usually my top five stays pretty consistent. One guy I see in a lot of heavy top ten's is jack Johnson. Definitely a great fighter but I've never placed him in mine. The one that I've added most recently is wladimir Klitschko and currently have him at the bottom. I can still see arguments which would keep him outside of a top 10, but for me, ten years is a hell of a long time to reign a division. His longevity is sick for a modern heavyweight. If he upsets Joshua then there's no denying his place his secured.

See not being able to cut off Ali is not a negative for me as no one could until after his layoff when Frazier cornered him.

    Time will tell.
    It always does.
    He's 38-0.
If he gets to 50 and takes a Joshua/Fury or whoever else on the way, then 10 may look a little low.?

People want to see the best fight the best in titles Johnson did not give us that.

Who cares if someone beat someone else at age 19 or 20, or when they were .500 or below, which are Johnson's wins over Langford, McVey, and Jeannette. There was demand for these fights, over 30k while Johnson was the champion. In fact, Johnson himself backed out of a signed deal to fight Langford for 30k in 1909 in the UK? Where you aware of that?
So you see there was demand for these fights regardless of past outcomes. The press is full of 30k 50k and 100K offers to lure Johnson to fight one of the big three. We never saw it.

If Jeannette, Mcvey or Langford were not the top 3 challengers from 1909-1914, can you tell me who was better? A champion is defined by who he beats as champion.

It is refreshing to talk about Johnson to someone who listens!

Regarding Jeffries, Sharkey was his prime. No debates there. And Jeffries beat him with an injured shoudler.

Fitz at age 36 was also in his prime. Just look at who Fitz waxed after losing to Jeffries in 1899. Fitz was a great older fighter, and his style did not require fancy footwork. The guy was lethal until 1904, 5 years after Jeffries KO'd him and if you look at his record, Jeffries was the only man to beat Fitz from 2-2-1890 TO 7-23-1904...a 14 year run for Fitz, of winning** The DQ with Sharkey is debatable as Fitz was winning before the alleged foul.

Corbett was in the shape of his life, and 33 for Jeffries. Based on his performance, which his own people say was his best ring effort, he was in his prime too. He was not in his prime for the second match though.
