Tom Loeffler plans GGG to fight 3-4 times a year. Who are they (Golden Boy) to dictate terms for not wanting GGG
to fight in June? 3 months is enough time promote a fight and it will sold out anyway.

    Stupid excuse.

Didn't May-Pac also manage to work just fine with a similar amount of time to promote the fight? If it was enough time for those guys then this is EASILY enough time for GGG-Canelo.

If the Saunders fight goes down, he wins and GBP say "Nope you need to wait again" then I hope he just moves up to 168 instead of waiting for this fight any longer. Canelo can then start to chase the belts left behind (which wherever we like it or not will make for some good fights at 160)

Even though Canelo was easily schooled by Floyd, he is the true heir to the shucking and jiving A- side, duping the fans out of real threats in their prime ppv king bull**** legacy "Money" left behind.

Even if GBP were completely serious I'd still like to see Golovkin take the fight against Saunders. If he beats him and unifies the division then all roads to glory in the middleweight division will lead through him. Canelo may be able to jump around different catchweights fighting guys like Amir Khan and Chavez Jr but where is Jermall Charlo going to go? Where is Eubank going to go (assuming he has any intention of going for glory at 160lb)? Where are so many up and coming fighters like Andrade going to go when they outgrow 154? It's sad that he is probably in the twilight of his career but if he unifies middleweight then there are still some great fights to be had at middleweight and GGG should have the potential to solidify his legacy if he wants it, regardless of what Canelo does.

Don't you want to see Canelo vs Golovkin in September? Why force that fight on such a short turnaround that risks derailing Canelo vs Golovkin happening this year? Khurtsidze is fighting Langford in April. The winner of that fight will probably fight Saunders over the summer. I don't think Saunders is even ready to fight Golovkin or Canelo over the summer, and I doubt it will happen, so why even talk about. If Golovkin wants that fight for June, OK but it just seems like a big ask to fight Jacobs Saunders then Canelo all in a matter of months. I just can't believe how many people seem to not care about Canelo vs Golokvin happening this September. Why put another obstacle in the way of that fight happening this year?

Gomez is just saying to Golovkin that we want the fight for September, so if you fight Saunders it could derail the fight. Obviously there are other things that could derail the fight, like injuries, or Canelo vs Chavez being close enough to warrant a rematch. Don’t you think that Triple G vs Jacobs, Canelo vs Chavez then Canelo vs Triple G would be an awesome year for boxing on its own. We don’t need more than that to satisfy boxing fans. Triple G vs Saunders in between just seems like overkill. Look, if Golovkin wants to make that fight, go ahead, it’ll probably work in Canelo’s favor anyway if Golovkin wins. Then Canelo could unify the Middleweight division with a single fight vs Golovkin. Frankly, I think Canelo should have to fight Saunders, as that’s the fight that the WBO wanted. And it will give boxing fans something to look forward to when Canelo vs Triple G happens in September, with a potential fight vs Saunders on the horizon for the winner. (even though a Canelo vs Triple G rematch is possible as well) I think by next year Saunders will be more ready for either Canelo vs Saunders anyway, and I think it will produce a better situation all around.

For Golovkin, who’s been fighting on average once every 6 months, to sign to fight Saunders in June before Canelo fights Chavez is completely ridiculous. The boxing world wants to see Golovkin vs Canelo in September. Him doing that could jeopardize the Canelo fight. I’m not sure I agree with Gomez making these statements, but as a fan I don’t want to see any other obstacles getting in the way of Canelo vs Golovkin for September.

It’s going to be hard enough for each guy to get through their next fight so this fight can happen in September. This is a career defining fight for both men. They need time to prepare for such a big fight.

Look, there was some hyperbole in my post about Gennady having to wait. He doesn’t have to wait OK, but why do something that could derail Canelo vs Golovkin? How important is it for Golovkin to get the WBO before fighting Canelo? I’m reading about how Golovkin would do that so he could get more leverage in negotiations??

Seriously? It just sounds like something that could potentially make this fight harder to make happen in September. Lets say Golovkin beats Jacobs and beats Saunders and gets the WBO. Then he’s going to have to put that title on the line when he fights Canelo anyway. Why not just fight Jacobs, fight Canelo, focus on that if he’s able to get past Jacobs, then the winner of Canelo vs Golovkin with all the titles goes after Saunders.

I don’t need to see Golovkin vs Saunders in June, but that’s just me. I just hope we see Canelo vs Triple G in September, that should be everyone’s #1 goal. The way I see it, we don’t need any other fights in between now and September. I say let Saunders build himself up first, and fight the winner of Khurtsidze Langford this summer. Then wait to see who wins Canelo Golovkin, and go from there.

Like it or not, GBP is in the driver's seat here. Team Triple Duck will have to dance to GBP's tune or suffer the consequences.

Golovkin has always wanted to fight every three months, it's just negotiation difficulties that have made it six months lately (e.g. Jacobs got pushed back from December to March after GGG had last fought in September). Canelo fought every three months back in 2011 when he was already a star but not at the top yet. It's Golovkin's responsibility if he is happy with a short turnaround, as long as he's ready to go September 2017 GBP have nothing to do with it. All it means is that if he loses to Canelo he can't blame the 3 month turnaround. Or if BJS beats him, GGG loses the payday and can't blame anyone but himself.

Gomez is wrong because he is complaining about the length of promotion time, 3 months is more than enough for a fight which has been front page of boxing news for over a year. That's a lame excuse if I ever saw one, actually Canelo-Khan was only announced 3 months in advance too!!! So Gomez trying to threaten Golovkin about this rubbish is ethically reprehensible.

That's where we fans come in, calling out ethically reprehensible behaviour like this.

You're avoiding the main issue again, which is whether Gomez deserves criticism or not.

We all agree that Canelo is the A-side.

The "obstacle" Gomez speaks about is complete balderdash though, claiming that you need more than 3 months promotion for Canelo - GGG. Can we agree on that?

Your reasons for GGG not to fight Saunders are much more reasonable, but that's not at all what Gomez said.

This is worse than anything Floyd did by far ...

However, in defense of Canelo it was not him speaking, it was Gomez. Promoters / managers are often crooks.
