I believe he was fighting with himself over whether to get up or not; he wasn't fully convinced he wouldn't be put down again straight after, he probably forgot how little of the round was left, luck was on his side that day. Anyway who are you to say what a fighter does or doesn't do.

 

I don't agree with this.
Tyson took punishment throughout the fight and the combination that floored him nearly took his head off and literally forced his body to the floor, no wonder he was dazed, he still tried to get up, he was on his feet at 9.5 like Douglas, its just that meyran saw he was not in shape to continue.

I'm as huge a Tyson fan as they come, but the only count that matters in a fight is the ref's count, which Douglas responded to and got up in time, and in shape, to continue.

 

Same heart? The dude was getting the stuffing kicked out of him! Douglas got blasted with a single punch after dominating the whole fight.

This fight PROVED that Tyson had a huge heart. Maybe the reason why he says it was his best fight.

 

Hate him or love him, that's a fact. Dont believe it? go to the fight video on youtube and just do the count yourself. Its almost 14 counts. But it is what it is.

True Douglas was better that night but so did Botha who outboxed Tyson entirely till he got caught.

Many of Pacquiao's opponent also said they lost because Manny's speed not because of his punching power. Yet those guys were literally stopped by Manny.

 

All great fighters manage to pull something out of bag when the chips are down, i think that was Mike's moment but unfortunately as a fan it still wasn't enough. Its grasping at straws, douglas followed the refs count and deserved that victory.

 

Buster beat the 10 count. He doesn't have a stopwatch. He has to rely on the ref's count and beat it. He did that. Case closed.
