    Kiwi...i should further add

the fact that some of you, who are golovkin fans, feel like this is sort of an unfair threat....basically shows you which fighter needs the other more....

if i was avoiding a major fight to chase a guy for two years...id prob listen to what his people say though

How is GBP posturing so they can get the belt of Saunders when they've shown absolutely no interested in making the Saunders fight before fighting Golovkin? Isn't it quite clear by now that GBP's strategy is to have Canelofight Chavez, then for Canelo to fight Golovkin in September. With a fight with Saunders possible in 2018. I don't see anything to indicate taht GBP wanted Canelo to fight Saunders before fighting Golovkin.

Well, some people took this as "NO! Saunders is our back up plan for september in case the Chavez fight isn't competitive enough to warrant a rematch, stay away from him!". But that's just an opinion.

Dude, you are mistaken, I'm not GGG lover, I am actually his critique. I'm on the record saying its in his best interest to take the 15m offer many times.
But different question deserves different answer.
Plus GGG is not a nobody compares to Canelo. Yes, Canelo is the bigger star. It's not like Canelo is 10x bigger than GGG. It's more like 3-1, and that's being generous to Canelo.
Also it goes both way. If GGG-Saunders can jeopardise the fight because of lost or injury, SO is Canelo-Chavez.
The risk of a Canelo suffers a broken ribs is probably bigger than GGG suffers anything at the hand Saunders. But this the risk involve in negotiating future fights while both have a fight on hand.

Yes, actually it's a rare thing with me to react this strongly lol, usually I keep quite cool.

I can see your reasoning as to it being better to concentrate on the Canelo fight instead of fighting Saunders, that's a controversial but reasonable position. I think I disagree, but can respect that line of reasoning. I'll never convince you to feel as strongly as I do about these comments, but as you admit that Gomez does not have any right to threaten Golovkin regarding what he does, that's fine for me and I suggest we leave it there.

I really think the best defence for Canelo fans is the simple one: he isn't Gomez. If GGG does beat Saunders in June and signs for September, and then Gomez tries to scratch it for this "promotion time" excuse, that's where Canelo would have to step in or face blame. But we're a long way away from that, and I doubt that Canelo would adopt such a stupid excuse. I still think if it were up to him and Golovkin without promoters and managers, the fight would have been made last year already or at least certainly or this year, probably for a sensible percentage split such as 70/30 or thereabouts.

It's hard to prove one way or the other because it's unusual for someone to be Lineal but not have one of the four major belts. When they did that poll, I think the general assumption was that the Lineal Champ had one of the four major belts. Though I do find it interesting that Lineal was seen as better than other Belt Holders and even Unified Belt holders, which as it stands would put Canelo in a better position as Lineal Champ based on that conclusion than Golovkin. I think you'll agree that many Golovkin fans would completely disagree with that poll, that a Lineal Champ is better than being a regular belt holder or even a unified champ.

its obvious that golovkin and his people have been working towards this canelo fight.....they swerved a legacy fight against a top p4p guy at 168 to keep the canelo train going.....

now if im golovkin and thats my endgame im probably listening to gomez here.....

    if golovkins fans are right
i could agree with most of this

but like i said...if ggg was really somebody he wouldnt be chasing a 26 year old...the 26 year old would be chasing him

Yes, pincai has criticized GGG many times. So have I, although I am a bit more of a fan. Note that I'm not saying GGG is always blameless, let alone defending K2/Loeffler/Sanchez at every turn. K2/Loeffler are clearly motivated by money more than anything else, and Sanchez has a big mouth that talks nonsense too sometimes.

It just seems to me that this talk from Gomez is utterly despicable.

if golovkin fans are right....ggg should just fight saunders, beat him, and keep doing whats best for him

the golovkin fans swear the public will pressure canelo....that fans will turn their backs and demand canelo fight ggg......so they should just stay their course, fight saunders, and wait for the pressure to mount

Jacobs is obviously the underdog but he could throw a massive spanner in the works. Jacobs is no sure thing IMO he has a chance against GGG. GGG should fight Saunders next Canelo will put him off so long as he can get money fights against JCCjr etc.

Yes, it's pretty arbitrary, I agree with what you said. I think most fans see GGG as the man at 160lb simply because Canelo hasn't fought there much, but see Canelo as the bigger name.

Agreed, both Jacobs and Chavez Jr have a genuine chance.

**** GBP. I say fight BJS and let canelo run. Who else is he gonna fight when GGG will have his 4 belts?

Oh, I never disagreed that GGG needs Canelo.

Actually they both need each other about equally (Canelo can do better by himself compared to Golovkin by himself, but Canelo would also make a lot more vs Golovkin compared to his other options), but Golovkin can't afford to wait too long for the fight. Canelo doesn't need to hurry so much as he is only 26. So Golovkin needs the Sept. fight more, as you say.

And yes, Golovkin does have a reason to listen to what GBP says; but that does not justify GBP making threats like this one with a BS excuse re "promotional time".

That's my feeling too, but it might be to do with my personality: a bird in hand (BJS) vs two in the bush (Canelo) ...
