Not much Gamboa looks good but it's not overly entertaining as long as he gets KO by the end, he'll probably get a Loma fight so counter-punching and not getting caught being overly aggressive is a fine strategy although not wildly entertaining.

Yeah, this weight is all wrong for Gamboa. He should lift fewer weights and go back to featherweight, fight Lomachenko.

I wonder if he's going to get fed to Mikey Garcia.

    Round 1 Gamboa 10-9
    Round 2 Gamboa 10-9
    Round 3 Gamboa 10-9
    Round 4 Gamboa 10-9
    Round 5 Gamboa 10-9

Another excruciating round with one bright spot, Gamboa unleashed a hail of punches that rocked Alvarado for a second, and then went back to boring the hell out of us.

Rene is usually about as exciting a fighter as you'll find. Shame.

Yeah I like Rene, unfortunately he's in with a guy who's simply too quick and moves too much =/

    Round 3 Gamboa 10-9
    Round 4 Gamboa 10-9
    Round 5 Gamboa 10-9

One shot at a time, Gamboa picking and pecking here and there, he landed a decent hook on Rene, but spun out and fell down, Alvarado landed one good right.

The exact same thing happened when he fought another prospect a year or two ago. He was just too fleet and Rene had zero answers for non-stop movement.
