Ross Purrity had Morrison down in round 6 and round 10. It was a less experienced Purrity up against an experienced Morrison. It was a less experienced Wlad up against a more experienced Purrity. Purrity didn't "blast" Wlad out, it was a gruelling 11 round win. Wlad improved after that fight. The Wlad who beat Chagaev and Chambers was better than the Wlad of the Purrity fight. Wlad at 33 years old is better than Wlad at 22.
I'm not sure where you get the idea that Tommy Morrison was such a good fighter. He wasn't. He rarely even cracked the true top 10 in his era. He was a bit of a joke, a hype job. A good puncher but not a serious top-flight contender. He was knocked out badly in 1991, 1993 and 1995. In the meantime he beat just one contender, an old man, on points. These are facts.
Purrity is Purrity. A turtle boxing journeyman. History proves you need not be good or experienced in order to beat him. Hence why many up and comers have early career wins over him . He may have out Tommy down , but he put Wlad OUT!!!!!
Well, shame on Wlad then. Fortunately for Wlad he bounced back from that loss and went on to defeat a multitude of genuine ranked contenders and dominated the division for about 8 straight years.
Wlad flourished only when the division descended into into the worst sate of its entire existence . And still he had to cheat to win.

Wlad dominated the division for 8% of its entire history. Morrison wasn't one of the best 5 in it for a single second.

He didn't put Wlad out you idiot. The corner threw the towel in. Wlad would have won an EASY decision if the fight was a 10 rounder, Morrison took a controversial Draw. Moot point anyways, because Wlad went on to become a dominant champion, an ATG and a future HOF. Things Morrison never came close to achieving. The loss to Bentt was just an embarrassing if not more than anything on Wlads record.
If vlad could hold and maul Tommy in the early rnds he could win late as the Duke runs out of puff.in the early rnds Tommy has a excellent chance. one mistake and vlad is toast.

Bendt wasn't his ceiling. 4MAN was So im looking at it from that perspective. Wlads ceiling never reached the same height , it was about Shire level high.
