They're all on something, deal with it. Tests are too easy to pass and the stakes are too high not just for the fighters themselves but the people that depend on them. Do you understand what kind of poverty many of these fighters come from and what they would be doing for a living if they didnt make it as fighters? The mentality required to get to the top of such a brutal sport is ruthless and competitive.
The state athletic commission's tests are very easy to pass. VADA and USADA not so much. The only problem I have with the testing right now is when the WBC has a fight and one fighter has to do VADA testing and the other doesn't. That's just unfair.
I don't understand arguments that try to prove an athlete is 'clean', either. However, there's taking PED's then there's PED'ing it up to the eyeballs; you must've overshot considerably to be caught by today's God awful testing/find loopholes i.e IV situations. To make it worse, testing was even worse before this era.
Well thts true because stricter testing does limit drug selection and drug delivery method(as in oil or water based injection) but that is all it does. There is plenty of stuff they cant test for at all and other things that are out of your system in hours not days. Then there is masking agents
Its not a problem exclusive to Boxing. Talent only takes you so far and its been this way for a long time.
Either overshot or your "dealer" or supplier gave you something else that was cheaper for him to acquire but gives similar effects, so you miscalculated the clearance time on what you thought you were taking and you end up testing positive for something you didnt know you were taking.
Not a problem at all IMO I dont care what they're on, the most dangerous part of the sport is the weight cutting and the actual fighting. Maybe they should first do something about these ridiculous weight gains on fight night.
When I see an ads on TV about kids starving in Africa, do I feel sorry for them? Yes. But do I get my wallet out and start donating? No. Do I get my butt out there as a volunteer? No. Yes, we need police to catch the bad guys. Yes, we need stricter testing to catch the cheater. But those are not my main concern. I just wanna see the BLOODY FIGHT!!!!
The reason that we must monitor PED's is because they are creeping into the sporting world at all levels. Many of these drugs, while providing a boost in performance, have bad side effects later in life. If one wants to compete in sport they shouldn't have to risk having some of these side effects for the rest of their life.
Boxing (all modern sports for that matter) will never be drug free. There are too many drugs, too many loopholes, for any one test or set of tests to catch more than a handful of athletes (and those being the ones who are either pushing the boundaries or are careless). The only thing to do is condemn the fighters when they test dirty and argue for the strictest possible penalties, or else ignore the use of drugs in boxing entirely. At the moment fans argue for the innocence of proven cheaters like Povetkin while accusing fighters who have never tested positive of doping, which is a childish and hypocritical stance and one I cannot abide. Either condemn fighters who get caught regardless of your personal liking for them, or ignore the positive tests entirely and just enjoy the sport for what it is, a PEDded up freakshow.
PED's are not good and if they become accepted they will be used at just about any level of competition. People are using them more at the high levels sure, and I realize someone will probably always find a way to cheat, but its a cat and mouse game and we have to keep playing cat until the end of time. The reason why PED's are becoming used more and more is because of docile folks like you who think "oh well, everyone is doing it" Kids in highschools are starting to use PED's, I think its seriously messed up that people that age are risking tiny testicles and growing man breasts at that age.
