ggg/jacobs ppv numbers?

The obsession of Floyd fanatics with PPV numbers of a Kazakh fighter shows us that there is a problem with boxing in the US. I hope the boxing scene there can recover, they had some great fighter decades ago.

 

The Mexican fans are a paradox, because they help the sport by buying a lot of ppvs but they also hurt it by supporting any fight that Canelo is involved whether it is competitive or not.

 

Hmm no way can I see 1 mil+ I think it does 800k maybe 900k. The only reason i say this is because Cotto vs Canelo did 900k and Floyd vs Canelo did 1.2 mil. Boxing is not as large as it was when Mayweather vs Canelo was made and Cotto is a bigger name than GGG in terms of ppv sales.

 

I will probably not see this one. I usually buy PPV if I can get at least one other person to split it with me. So far, no one.

You have the number for Floyd canelo incorrect, it actually did 2.2M. Canelo is a big star prior to this loss.
Canelo Khan did over 500k
Canelo cotto did around 900k
Kiwi man projection is reasonable, Canelo Chavez will do somewhere in between.

Neither Canelo nor ggg popularity receives a big boost since their last ppv. Because neither did anything spectacular or different in terms of opponents choice.
It can be argued that ggg will be slightly more popular than his last outing because he is on the rise.
With 24/7 and Jacobs being American I guess the ppv number can top over 200k.

 

Floyd brought more than 70% of those buys, how do I know? Because Canelo has not been able to get anywhere close to that number ever since even with a big name in Cotto

Of course I could be wrong and Kiwi could be right im just looking at the numbers and let them lead my guess. If GGG does 250k then its plausible that Canelo vs GGG will do 900k but a mil+ seems a stretch to me.

 

Of course Floyd is the bigger star. Cotto does have a bigger fan base than ggg. But do not underestimate the drawing power of Ko artist in ggg. There is s buzz for this fight and one of the most talk about in recent time.
I did a poll around half year ago regarding ggg Canelo, and the consensus ppv number was between 800-1.2M.

Well if Cotto has a bigger fan base than GGG, why isn't it a fair assumption to say that Canelo vs GGG does less ppv numbers than Cotto vs Canelo?

I don't think a poll will tell us what the true number will be, none of us are experts in ppv buy forecasting. That's not to say we can have opinion of course but a lot of people forecasted GGG vs Lemieux would do larger numbers and same with Canelo-Khan which I doubt did 500k because HBO never released it, Oscar did and he has conflict of interest on the matter.

Brook vs GGG done 400-500k according to Hearn. Obviously Brook was the A-side there, I don't think this fight is anywhere near as big as that.

I'm gonna say 150k for GGG vs Jacobs.
