The bolded part is BS. The two paragraphs below are from the OP and explain that the Florida based promotion did not commit to funding the event precisely because Barrera hadn't signed the contract. Tail wagging the dog here: no Barrera signature, no money, no fight - Barrera is trying to shift blame when he's the one who never committed.

The IBF will suspend him and make Beterbiev full mando. Statement to be released this week or early next week.




How the group (SMY) was raising money wasn't really my concern, but they had found sponsors and were counting on the important Quebec community residing in Florida at that time of the year, as well as the important Cuban population and their contacts with the Russian community, to sell VIP tables and tickets.
