Joseph Parker vs Hughie Fury who wins & why?

I gave a two fold answer, one - I *want* Parker to win (and used Wilder and Joshua being allowed to have voluntary defenses as an example of why I think it's rough Parker has a TOUGH first defense), and that I think Parker is likely to beat the Fury we've seen so far.

 

If he doesn't want the defence he shouldn't have gone for the belt. Parker was mandatory for the IBF I believe he could of easily gone for that belt instead then some Aj fan could be saying its not fair that Aj has such a tough mandatory off the bat. I'm just confused why you think its unfair when I'm sure Parker was aware of this when he went for the belt.

 

Ruiz jr beat Parker in the ring in real life, and only lost on the judges scorecards. Takam gave him big trouble also, but his **** poor right hand couldn't reach Parker's chin cos he needed a stepladder to do it. Takam also thought he was up on the judges cards so just coasted his way to a loss due to his bad miscalculation, and so he lost fair and square.

Parker has some great skills and speed, and I favor him slightly to beat Fury. He has been more active and the kind of fight Fury normally fights might not be enough to trouble Parker. If Fury presses the fight, then things might go Fury's way, since Parker isn't very good at fighting going backwards. We will get to see if Parker has true world class power, or just good power at medium level against good opponents.

I can't help but wonder if you either skimmed my post, or are deliberately misinterpreting me. I think it's completely reasonable that he should have a defense, and if he is rightful champion then he will win it... but it irritates me that people (who I suspect from you will be one of) will act like Parker was a bum because of his short reign if Hughie manages to pull it off.

I believe that is how winner and loser is defined Judges scorecards matched mine, and a lot of other peoples. VERY close fight, but. I feel I was scoring fairly, too - I had almost given up on Parker by half way because how well Andy was going overall up to that point so it was a pleasant surprise to see Parker pull through. If Andy was in better condition I think it could easily have swung the other way, he did look like the better boxer in the ring but Parker was able to keep better quality for the whole distance imho.

 

Parker is top 5 in the division behind Aj, Wlad, Ortiz and Wilder. I suspect he will win by split decision due to the fact that Hughie has been inactive and Parker is fighting at home and has been active with live guys in his last few fights.

If Hughie wins by a close decison then its not the end of the world doesn't make him a bum but I don't see how he could possibly win a title if the 4 I mentioned have their hands on them, and if he can't beat an inactive Hughie not sure how he would beat an active Fury.

In regards to you thinking I'm purposely misreading your posts, you started your first post by saying that it is unfair that Parker has to defend against a hard mandatory whilst Wilder and Aj get to have voluntary. I rebutted by saying it isn't unfair because Parker turned down his mandatory position against AJ and went for the title which he knew he would be getting a mandatory for. If Aj was fighting an inactive Hughie I personally think it would be a 4 round job.

I'd expect AJ to beat Fury convincingly too. He's the only current champ Ortiz wouldn't be my favourite to beat. Klitschko I'm not going to comment on until he fights AJ, he look like his trajectory was sharply turning down before he fought Fury and there has been over a year of inactivity and visible aging.

He may not be top 5 anymore, and the AJ fight may be a mistake or at least a retirement plan - we'll see though. I'd like to see AJ get a good test.

 

Okay I'll apologise for misquoting you but you indicated it's unfair because by bringing up the fact that two of the other champions didn't have to have a 'tough' mandatory straight implies that JP should get a voluntary too. It's only a tough mandatory because it's Parker I would pick AJ to dispatch of Hughie and Wilder to also stop him although not in the fashion of AJ.

I don't know about Klitischko I put him top 5 because he's proven and beside for the Fury fight in which he came up against a tricky motivated fury he has looked pretty dominant in the Povetkin and Pulev, although he struggled abit with Jennings.

With the 2 year lay off and the age gap it doesn't look good, however there is an experience gap and if Wlad can survive the early rounds he can make it his fight and possibly win. Definitely a good test for AJ.

Stiverne beats them both. The difference, Stiverne can fight for 12 rounds. Takam and Ruiz gas hard @ almost Chisora levels. Even if they were superior boxers (they aren't) they'd gas and still would lose. That is why they lost narrowly to Parker because they couldn't fight for an entire round and took every other round off. Not like either have height and reach and both are easy to hit. They would be good fights to make down the line.

Now, about the topic. I didn't like what I saw of Hughie against Rudenko. Looked a bit shaky in that fight against the plodder. I think Parker if he goes for it can get the KO. There isn't much reason to respect Hughie's power. Stamina though is a concern for Parker which is why I'm leaning towards a UD win for Parker.

 

Stiverne is an over-the-hill fat out of shape bum, he is finished and never was any good even in his prime, that's why the WBC has ranked him #1 to protect Wilder.................

Hughie is a good boxer, but he got sick, doubt if he ever got over his illness, that is the question.................plus, it will be in Parker's home turf, so the judges will be swayed.....................

The Furys are travellers after all; they are not without guile.

Hughie has not likely yet shown his full hand.

 

Because Wilder has been allowed to have five easy fights against sub-standard opponents.

 

That would be your subjective opinion. The actual fact is Parker is the WBO Heavyweight Champion of the World - that is his title. Im not saying youre disputing that, Im just highlighting that its youre perspective on Parker and undoubtedly unofficial.
