I'm a Tyson fan and 86'-88'89'Tyson was pure beast. Even post Douglas through 91' before Holyfield, I was still convinced he was "ATLAS".
I find myself looking at Foreman 40-0 before Ali and he was SCARY. I wonder how this fight would turn out. Would it be a Foreman Lyle type fight?

Well prime Tyson was terrified of even OLD Foreman, so, mentally, he was not in the right space for this. That's because he and Cus d'Amato used to watch Frazier get destroyed by Foreman over and over and Tyson got the idea that a smaller swarming fighter was dogmeat against Foreman.

If Tyson had the mental strength and was convinced that he could do it, I actually believe that he might well go into the wheelhouse with even prime Foreman and beat him.

No doubt Foreman was stronger and had that chin, but Tyson was technically better, more accurate and more defensively responsible. It would be a crapshoot, but one that I believe was within the reach of Tyson to win.

^The above is all hearsay. It's a myth. Cus told Tyson that Dempsey, Marciano and Frazier were tailor made for Foreman. He never told Tyson to be afraid, be very afraid of Foreman.

"I'm not Joe Frazier!", Tyson is heard saying to the camera man in the 4th round after he knocks Foreman out for the 10 count.

    FERGY FFS!

Do you think I disappeared after I outed you as having the same IP address as an alt whom u made Tyson threads to discuss back and forth.

Well he's went and done it again lmao. I noticed that Fergy has restarted his Tyson threads having not made any in weeks once I outed him, he must think I disappeared.

Fergy, I explained to you on messenger that as a perk of my job, I can see people's IP addresses. You have the exact same IP as the original poster here, just like you did with that "JamesDean" guy who mysteriously vanished after I outed you.

Why does it give you a warm, fuzzy feeling inside to see Tyson being discussed? Tyson has hundreds of these worshippers, it's damn right weird.

If they were just standing there taking turns punching each other, one punch at a time then Foreman would win but in a actual fight, I think the clear advantage in foot and especially hand speed definitely favours Tyson. Everyone figures like in the Frazier fight, the Foreman uppercut would be a big factor in the outcome but Tyson had a pretty sneaky uppercut himself especially when he used to throw the right hook to the body first and followed it with the surprise right uppercut through the middle.

I wouldn't put that much money on it but I would put it on Tyson to be able to land his shots quicker and wins this.

    To be more precise:

"While we were eating, Benton said, "Bobby, what's up with Foreman and Tyson, how come they're not fighting each other on the 16th? Isn't that the fight that King was trying to make?" He said, "Georgie, You'll never believe this but, ****in' Tyson is scared **** less of Foreman and wants no part of him. I was there when Don was trying to make the fight. He was telling Tyson that Foreman represented huge money, plus he was old and slow and would be no problem. Tyson got up and screamed at King saying, 'I'm not fight in' that ****in' animal, if you love the mother****er so much, you fight him!'"

Goodman stated that Tyson said Foreman was much better than people thought, and was a dangerous fight for any of the top heavyweights. Goodman proceeded to explain how Tyson was calling Foreman a big con man, and explained that the grandpop act was just a front.
    [...]
Throughout the lunch Goodman, Duva, Benton, and myself shared stories and thoughts on the fight game. Out of the blue Goodman said, "Oh I remember why else Tyson wanted no parts of Foreman. He said that King had found out from Steve Lott that Tyson and Cus D'Amato used to watch the Frazier-Foreman fight over and over." He continued saying that Tyson loved that fight because he was awed by Foreman's power and Frazier's toughness and how he kept getting up after every knockdown. He also said that Lott told King that Cus sat alongside Tyson saying, "It's suicide against Foreman if you're short and fight a swarming attacking style like Marciano or Frazier," never figuring that Foreman could be a possible Tyson opponent down the road. He said that Cus said the only fighters who had a chance against Foreman were, tall rangy fighters who could fight him from a distance while moving away from him, and no way any swarmer could beat Foreman by going to him.

Those are the words of the man who actually had a hand in trying to make the Foreman-Tyson fight, and was in the room when the negotiations broke down."

More or less how I see it. I think Tyson would have a pretty good chance.

The simple question is, then: WHY didn't Tyson fight OLD Foreman in a megabucks fight if he was going to despatch him so easily and if he had no doubts about it? There was a lot of demand for it, after all.

The tyson of 86 88 was a demon as we all know. And the George pre frazier was a wrecking ball so it could come down to who gets in first. I'm leaning to tyson in this, but he as to hurt foreman early and fast. If foreman still there past the f

Ah, the "blow out" champions. What to make of them?

Prime George and Prime Tyson were both very much used to things going all their own way. Unfortunately extremely talented fighters can sometimes bypass necessary seasoning through having such sheer talent and both Foreman and Tyson are candidates for this. Neither in their prime were prepared to come through a great fight yet both are capable of giving the other more trouble than any fighter the other actually met. This makes it difficult.

I think we need to match them after each has actually lost a fight otherwise it's simply a case of who hits whom first or who gets discouraged first. Both were average to poor after 6 rounds.

Gun to my head I think Tyson. Foreman has more raw strength but I have never been convinced beating that version of Frazier guarantees a one size fits all argument since George looked vulnerable beating scrap iron Johnson, Ted Gullick and Dwight Qawi where as Tyson pulverised a lot of powerhouse men like Berbick, Bruno, Ruddock and Golota.

I'm not sure what that means, sorry that I'm a Tyson fan, whomever it is I need to apologize to. Nobody can help the fact he was Eddie Van Halen awesome during his reign of terror.
