I back the Tyson of the Bruno fight 2 and the Holyfield 1 and 2 fights to still be able to get rid of any version of Lewis from 1989-2003. As long as he can get inside and unleash the 10-15 punch combinations, no version of Lewis has any chance.

Tyson's legs were on the decline after he left Rooney. His legs were gone after Prison. He didn't have the same spring to bounce and move side to side.

And yes after prison, we all know he didn't have the same stamina but his punch timing and accuracy were all gone as well, he started missing so many shots aimed at the head.

The combination which finished Bruno in 1996 was a treat to watch but thats about it. He just lived off his past at this point.

I thought he was poor against Gollata. All he did was go for headshots and he shot his load. If Gollata had balls and continued fighting, Tyson would have been gassed out and taken to the cleaners from round 4 onwards.

Tyson and many of Tyson's handlers had badly under estimated Holyfield in 1996. They felt he was a shot fighter and that he would be 2-3 round job at best. Holyfield won his previous fight luckily due to cuts and was terrible. You could see the extra fat on Tyson's stomach and his misplaced over confidence the way he came into the ring. The moment Holyfield showed his magic in the first 2-3 rounds, the defeated look on Tyson's face said it all.

It wouldn't have mattered how they saw Holyfield. Holyfield was never going to lose that fight, nor the next.

Bruno 2 no doubt. He unleashed like 10-12 punches combo and I think its the last time he did that post prison. Bruno tried to fight early on but at the end of the first round , one of Tyson hook opened a huge gash above his left eye, and then he held on afterward.

The other would be against Golota, he actually threw some fierce body punches in that fight and his head was moving constantly.

I think post prison Mike never maintain his physical fitness. Look at his fight against Botha and Lewis for intense, he just looks very slow and all he could do was throwing one swinging hook and went into a clinch. There were many occassions where Botha and Lewis were clearly in his punching range but he just stayed idle doing nothing.

Absolute destructions of top 5 contenders - what could possibly be wrong with that? Can't think of any other post prime HW that has something similar. Not many that have even in there primes.

Bruno or Golota. But making Seldon crap his pants is no mean feat either.

Tyson effortlessly slipped and countered nearly every jab Bruno threw. He looked as good as he ever did.

No not really but close enough. I still think there were a few subtle signs of big time rust. I dont think the bruno that showed up was a good test at all

    This.

I remember former European champ Steffen Tangstad yelling that Tyson was back and better than ever in the live commentary. That was clearly overstated in hindsight, but the general feeling at the time was that Tyson made a real statement in that fight.

Have to be honest with you, I think that shows either bias or that you don't know what you see in a boxing match. I take it you didn't watch it live, but rather the fact after at least the defeats against Holy?

The thing is the 2nd bruno fight was a great show of power, speed and aggression, he looked like an invincible wreckingball....but thats not what i was looking for because tyson has always been a puncher and what he did against bruno only proved that he was still physically close to what he used to be. I enjoyed watching him much more when he applied that speed and power with technique like in the tubbs, biggs fights and the 2nd bruno fight just wasnt a show of technique or skill. It was a show of strength. Thats why i dont count it as a good performance because tyson was always powerful and almost any version of him would have looked like a wreckingball in there. What im looking for when i want to see if tyson is well prepared is how he deals with someone that he cant just land all of his bombs on and steamroll.
Im a big tyson fan but i dont count the spinks fight as his best performance either simply because 1995-2000 tyson would have knocked him out early as well. Thats what im saying
