Respect to Floyd's skillet but SRR is on another level. Comfortable UD or late stoppage for SRR.
Floyd stoppage via his right hand perhaps if said hand was wrapped around a baseball bat. Look who SRR was in with and he was never KOed. Only stoppage loss was due to heat exhaustion.

In a fight where Floyd willingly didn't tie Cotto up in the early stages of the fight and when he took the center of the ring in the last few rounds he schooled him.

OT: I haven't watched a single fight of Ray Robinson so I wouldn't know

Sorry, but that's a terrible list lol.

It's SRR, Hank, Floyd, Langford, Ali, Greb.

Those 6 are the top fighters in boxing history.

At Welterweight for all his dare I say it greatness, Floyd doesn't beat Robinson.
Robinson just has too much in the locker, he had it all.
One things for certain Floyd isn't stopping Robinson who possessed a granite chin, plus he's not going to outwork Robinson either.
Add to that Sugar Ray's speed, numbing power and movement I just can't see for all his skills how Mayweather can win this.
He will do well to last the distance.

You need to read more carefully, M.

I didn't say those were my ATG top six.

They just constitute my list of "slick great skilled legends"

(Duran ranks higher than four of the six in terms of greatness.)

Martinez almost became the first white dude to make it on there, but he started the game too late and had too many injuries. Still, he had the makings. If he'd boxed from 12 years old and and skipped football and bicycling, I'm sure it would have been a list of seven slick skilled greats.

In terms of the ATG list, mine would look something like:

    SRR
    Greb
    Langford
    Armstrong
    Ali
    Duran
    Fitzimmons
    Louis
    Charles
    RJJ

    Robinson wins. Comfortably.

At their peaks, Mayweather was second best to Pacquiao. Robinson was the best of all time.

Either way, terrible list for skilled legends. Floyd should be a top 2-3 fighter in terms of skills. The man is ATG top 3 and skills, top 2-3, maybe #1 lol.

The fact that you even asked the question if floyd could STOP robinson disqualifies you from any intelligent discussion. How man fights did SRR have, how many past his best and how many times did he get stopped?

It's a list that is weighted about two parts achievement (resume) and one part skill (eye test).

Most of these kind of lists are based entirely on achievement.

And if that were the case, my list would probably drop SRR to third, behind Greb and Langford. But I can't ignore the sheer brilliance of SRR's boxing.

Floyd would probably be inside my top twenty, based mainly on resume.

He was (is ?) a very skilled boxer, but his skills are mostly defensive. Both Sugars were much more skilled all around.

Floyd had more defensive skills than either one, but his edge there was out weighed by their superior offensive skills.

The other point here is that all such lists have a large degree of subjectivity. That is to say, there's no right answer.

Re: Floyd stopping Robinson, that's not happening in any universe..

There's a small chance he might get a points win at 147 (very small) but practically zero chance that he stops him.
