My favourite team in Rugby League is the West Tigers, they haven't won a premiership since 2005, they finished 9th on the ladder last year. Doesn't mean I don't love and support them and watch every game they have lol.

You don't just have to always jump on the bandwagon to the winners. Everyone supports their own fighters for specific reasons. What do 99% of people watch boxing for? Entertainment. Ward was an extremely entertaining fighter. People enjoyed watching him fight. Hence why people appreciate him.
